They had a strong field of late models, right at twenty. Jason Fitzgarld led all 50 laps, followed by Johnnie Collins and Dillon Wood third. Johnnie Collins did win the Championship for the second year in a row. They had a real good crowd for the start of the race, but once again the track crew let the track get to dry and the dust ran half the crowd away before the end of the race. At least 45 minutes of wheel packing before the races started for no reason.

Thanks guys,
Jason has had a decent season this year. Dillon Wood is a contender all the time now. Johnny isn't a surprise. Looks like the future is bright. My photo site: http://www.rewingphotos.com

Yeah, it was pretty dusty toward the start and middle -- that sandy dust that really annoys you -- but it settled down toward the end. 13 cars finished. One groove -- the bottom. You could tell it was pretty much the last race of the season -- lots of beat-up, duct-taped-together cars.
The track people worked hard, but they really need more than one tractor and a Caprice push car. A genuine wrecker would have sped things up, and there were a lot of cautions.
As for Bubba the Love Sponge, he was very popular at the on-track autograph signing, and while he started near the near, he was moving up pretty well till the RF suspension collapsed about 12 laps in.
Don't know how full the stands were at the start of the night, because I headed up from Homestead after the Nationwide race and got there just as the feature was lining up. But by the end, not that many folks.
