  • Great Job NSS!

I have to parrot what Fred23 said in another thread regarding the crowd the race and the entire weekend. I think the only improvement would have been the lapped cars being moved back and having some form of double wide restart.

Great field of cars, I came away feeling good about the future of things at NSS - they seem to be getting some things headed in the right direction.

Was there a big crowd? I haven't been there since I believe the 2005 Speedweeks.

One of the best crowds i have seen in a long time - if they keep the same format next year, my guess would be Friday would get some more love. They had great racing - in between the wrecks. Based on Edm's unbiased journalism - I think he was involved in an incident - hard to tell though.

The crowd on Saturday night was very good I thought, and cars were streaming into the parking lot right up to the start of the race. Friday, as Todd says, was much smaller and started with what would be a small crowd for a regular Orlando weekly racenight, but ended with the Super Stocks racing to what must have been barely 50 people.

The biggest problem with the Friday night schedule for me was the SLM practice sessions that broke the racing program up badly and didn't allow for the races to flow very well. The fact that the Modifieds race was caution-free and barely featured any passing didn't help either.

Good to see the other divisions getting a chance to be involved in the weekend though, and a full racing night on the Friday with some SLM cameos would work well. I like the idea in another of the threads to make it a whole weekend festival type of event, and maybe have an open practice on Friday that anyone can come into, then a big Saturday racing program with some guest divisions, antique cars or something, and finally run the Cup on Sunday afternoon with all the bells and whistles you can put together to make it spectacular.

Yea, I meant the format of having both a Friday and Saturday show. Friday's layout was particularly choppy - maybe they could turn the SLM practices differently.

I brought my son Friday thinking that if he got bored with it - i wouldnt be heartbroken to head out early. The good part was that he was very entertained by the kids area - the bad part was that he was not interested in the racing activities after discovering the play area - so I had to take my life in my hands and head down to turn one to brave the rickety bleachers.

There have already been discussions on how to "streamline" next years Friday show... although I still think it should be a Saturday night/Sunday afternoon program. Just my $.02

After Friday nights program, I called Kim Brown (ok, there was a little alcohol involved) just to tell the track that I thought they were well on track to making this a bigger & better event than in recent years.

I thought that if Robert Hart was lookiing for feedback, she could say "some drunk called at 2:30 AM just to congratulate us on a job well done".
