  • BBQ Of The Damned

Just wanted to say how great it was to meet so many fellow Karnacians at yesterday's 'BBQ Of The Damned' over in the parking lot at the Governor's Cup. What a great turn out - anyone have any idea of the final number of rogues from this forum that made it over there? Must have been at least 15 or 16 people who found us out there and spent some time listening to a bunch of middle-aged men exaggerating stories on any number of topics...

Special thanks really have to go to Ocalasp76 for his hospitality and potato salad, AB195 for providing his TV and for backing it up closer to the group in his truck just so Todd McCreary didn't have to move from his seat, and most of all to Frasson118 who cooked some absolutely great food and made it such a great weekend for us all.

It was great to see you all and put faces to the names. Thanks so much for all your hospitality and taking the time out to come over and say hello. But OSF and Ocalasp76, please don't ever add me to your email distribution list.

And the big revelation of the weekend? If a group of Karnacians go out for a meal, who would have believed that it would be T-Mac who'd be the good looking one???

    Thanks for the yard bird!

Sorry I had to eat and run yesterday. The food was great and I hope everyone enjoyed themselves. Hopefully I will have an opportunity to take the time to meet everyone in the future when work isn't calling. Jerry thank you for the hospitality and Jim the potato salad was awsome. Everyone have a great Thanksgiving.

Andy is right, that was the most enjoyable afternoon I have spent for many a moon. In fact, the whole weekend at NSS was a blast: I got to race Friday, flea market and the BBQ on Saturday, and then a night of watching the SLM 200.

Apologies to those that I overlook, but here is the list of honored guests that I remember:
      Frasson118
      AB195
      OcalaSp76 & Virginia
      OSF
      Andy S
      Todd McCreary
      MAP41 (the next big thing)
      Derf
      M Seay 10
      Kim & Chris Brown
      Tim (The Dark Side) Walters
      flraceguy
      Chaplain Bill
      Jack Smith
      Rick Anges
      Osmosis Jones and mini Matt
Old Style Racer 2 (winner of the pool)
      Rick Elwood
      Cynthia Strahle
      Boneman

Too bad some were missing, but it was a heck of a fine turn-out overall. Many thanks to Jerry for putting on the Ritz out in the track parking lot, and to all the clowns in attendance for providing much harmless merriement!

The chicken was great, the potatoe salad was awesome but the people were the greatest as usual!!! Somehow I knew the mini-motel would not be standing after the race and tire tracks across it proved it. Saw alot of friends I have not seen in years. The Cup'09 was for sure one to remember!!! Great job to the staff of New Smyrna Speedway I always have said that atmosphere is what makes the event and last night had that from when we pulled into the parking lot until we loaded up to go home. Hey Rex when do we get to see building of the Taj Mahal?

Sorry I missed everyone but did not get there until the Strictly Stock race and was in the upper pits. Thought about checking to see if anyone was still there after the race but went home instead. But I am sorry I missed everyone but it was my first banquet for Volusia and I wanted to go and had a great time. It was really cool having Victory Lane right outside the door of the banquet. Very nice turnout although alot of the Lates were missing due to the race at Hendry County but had a great time.

Hopefully a few of you will make it to the Holiday Classic at Volusia next month and I will see you then. We have Top Gun Sprints, Mini Sprints, Modifieds on Friday night and Late Models and Sportsman on Saturday night. Should be alot of fun and a great time right before Christmas.

So happy you all had a great time. Look forward to seeing Andy's report since I evidentally missed a good race. Sorry I did not see Jack or Rick but I will soon.

            Have a Happy Thanksgiving

            Jane

Really enjoyed the whole affair yesterday... arrived at track around 2pm, went over to see the crew at OcalaJim's DOG HOUSE with Jerry cooking.

I lowered my standards to associate with some low lifes for a while (boy, I am glad i don't talk like those guys do - it would be VERY HURTFUL to others).

Actually, it was an enjoyable visit... abeit Matt's arriving (who the hell rang the fire bell?)?

Great race, had Travis Cope on the scanner and listened to Mike and the crew try to get a grasp on the handling of the "28" (strange to see that, but Ms. Murphy had the 26 for last nights race). Travis did his best to hold on to that car, but finally pulled it in when there were no more things Mike could do to get it to handlle. Great job Travis... many others could not have done as well as you did with what you had to work with...you passed alot of others while driving something that didn't want to go straight when you wanted it to.

If you have never known someone that put gas in a diesel engine, meet OSF,I finally did it.. yesterday... caught it when it hit 5 gals.... so I put 35 gals of diesel. When I got to Lakeland, topped it off again with another 6 gals of diesel and all is fine... always wondered if and when that would happen, now I know...

ANDY... you're a great guy.... and I enjoy your PC writings....I just realize that I probably couldn't be as PC as you (I know most of you would disagree with me,,, you most likely think I could be very nice and netural in my writings, but I might just say something that would be rude/crude/hurtful... HA HA HA.... then I'd just have to say "BITE ME" if you don't like it... ANDY don't roll that way... he's a real class act.

I can't understand why Andy doesn't want to be on our mailing list (Ocala and mine)... we only send out the good stuff.

I have to get Matt (OJ) on Jim Fentons mailing list...btw... our group setting could only have been better had we gotten Jim Fenton there.... Jerry pulled out a pic of JF that scared the children and made the dogs bark (I think I saw the same pic in another post below..dame, I wonder if they put him back in a cage after they awarded him that Fla 200 Win)... JF is a great guy, and I am lucky to have watched him race MANY times... I remember the flapping hood deal...

Racing will NEVER be the same as back in the day... I am lucky to have lived during that time period... as well as to consider those low lifes yesterday as friends (Just wouldn't introduce them to MOM nor let them near any small pets)

EDM... I will let you settle down a few days before I start on you (see, I am thoughtful, but don't think I'm going to let this pass without bustin your A$$ over your pile of rubble on wheels).

So,I'll keep this short and go for now...

What has 16 feet and 3 teeth?

Answer: Shift change at the Waffle House

That was told to me by an off-duty cop working security AT a W/House.

And like Rex, I apologize for anyone I might have missed.

THANK YOU to everyone that came. The quality of people was outstanding... but I still wouldn't take most of them home to meet the family!

                              that's okay.

after meeting you, we're not so keen on seeing the rest of your family anyway.
