  • Does Anyone Tell the Truth Anymore

Ok, I am at the lowest point in my life trying to save my home. I find this lady who seems to be on the up and up who says she can not only save my home but can get the mortgage modified since I pay 10% interest and interest today is much, much lower. Fine. She needs all this info which I have but she needs $1500 to do this. Now, I talk to the mortgage company who says no one should ever ask for money if they are helping you with your problems.

So once again, I am trying to figure out if anyone out there anymore is honest. No, I did not send her the money and even sent her what I found on the internet about her company but so far have no answer. The mortgage company is sending me some programs from them and hopefully someone will be honest with me but right now, I am on the verge of a heart attack with my blood pressure so high because people can't be honest.

Does anyone anymore just tell the truth??? If so, please let me know. They asked me for a hardship letter explaining why I got behind on my mortgage because I couldn't get paid from people I trusted. You know how lame that sounds but true. I counted on that income to pay my bills and when you don't get it, there is no money tree in the backyard to pick from. No matter what it has been, I have always done everything expected of me for people I have worked for but I guess that does not really matter in today's world. Just kindof sucks for sure.

Anyway, I am applying at BJ's for Christmas help and any other store I can find to work for during the holidays. I am not a lazy ass that does not want to work, I do but it is hard to find these days. Anyway, if you know of any honest people out there who really do help someone when they really need help, I would love to hear of them.

Thanks and have a great day.

    Hey Jane..

Only one person I know of who was honest and caring of others........
They nailed him to a cross.

Where is that list, you said you would publish, of the deadbeats who will not pay you? Inquiring minds want to know. If they are people we all know from this board, then tough cookies.
    What you got to loose?

A wise old man once said "Be Careful of What You Ask". In this case, part of the answer just might be closer than you think.

Hopefully, if Jane did in fact notify them with the 48 hr deal, they might just come through with what is owed her... if not - OH WELL, THEY SHOULD BE EXPOSED FOR WHAT THEY REALLY ARE. If they don't pay up at this time, they will never pay up.
Thank a Police Officer for what they do........... OSF:

I was told that it is not good business sense to reveal the people who have not paid me although I did work for them. Whether or not they give a rat's ass about me and my family or my home, I should not do that. Basically just go down on a sinking ship. But the lady I was dealing with that said she could save my home and even get the interest rate lowered did answer my letter as to why they were being investigated. She said all companies that are loan mediators are being investigated by the federal government because there are alot of them that are scam artists. So now I have to ask her one more question as to whether she needs anymore money or not.

Just right now I am so confused over all of this and don't know who to believe or not believe and if I will ever get paid which is doubtful at this point except for one place. Not long ago someone told me in this business you have no friends and maybe that is right, I just really don't know. All I know is that after 20 years, I don't want to live under a bridge.

I think you have been told wrong about not telling who they are! The bank is the one and loney one you need to work with. It's their money that they would like to get back some day. And you need to look and fast food places for a job. Or what about something like driving for a parts store like NAPA as an example. I know it will not be easy in theses days. But don't give up.

As far as refinancing your mortgage (that is a very high rate) you should never have to pay anything up front to anyone. You typically have costs you have to cover when the deal is done, but not up front.

If you made an appointment with a good local bank that is really involved in the community, the mortgage rep can tell you what best to expect in terms of fees and a reasonable rate given your work situation. Then you can use that as your frame of reference if you talk to anyone else.

Jane did you contact HUD Office? They are suppose to be able to help. Have noticed a lot of Mort. Co. are having a change of heart and are helping..so I would deal with them if possible! Our gov't bailed out AIG Ins. Co.(with no strings) whom insured the investors, whom bought your mort.co's mort.pkg.s and the mort.co. is now the servicer, not the owner of your mort. The investor was insured to receive there money from ins.co. if someone defaults. So, that is why our gov't. bailed them out..due to the onslot of defaults and that is why the investors have no encouragement to work with us poor slobs!! They have their money from our Uncle and someone (our younger generation) will have to pay this all back..taxes, taxes!

One thing to do is go one line to Fannie Mae & Fannie Mac.com and list your address and see if your mort. is one of them! HUD will need to know this. Ask your mort.co. who owns your mort. All this is important sooner or later. Ask if they will offer you a forbearance...call them as much as possible..maybe even keep a record of your and their calls.
Wage and labor is in the front of the phone book..ask them about money owed! They will contact place that owes you wages.

Thanks Nancy and yes, I have contacted HUD. My mortgage company is sending me a bunch of info but I had been dealing with National Foreclosure Mediators out of Seminole, FL. The lady seemed to know everything I needed and I trusted her but have not sent her the $1500 she requested to do this. That is when I looked them up and found a law suit against them for cival not criminal reasons. I sent this to her and she sent me back an article on this and why so many companies are being investigated because alot of them are scams but her's is not. But I am contacting everyone I can right now since this has been my home for 20 years and I would most certainly like to keep it my home.

But thanks for your advice and will follow it also.

                  thank you - Jane

I am not sure Wage and Hour can help me get paid. There was no contract, just friendship, so I don't know. Just that money would have helped alot and I would not be in this mess if they had just paid me like they promised. I certainly understand hardship but I trusted these people because they were friends and found out friendship means nothing at this time with our economy. I am sure I am not the only person who was not paid by them and in a long line of people trying to get their money. I am just really, really hurt right now.

The best program that can be found is IF the mortgage holder will FORGIVE the late payments and tag them on the back end of the loan. If you HAVE the $1,500.00 use that as a piece offering and good faith money to the Mortgage holder and see if they will work with you.
I see and understand your problem with dead beats not paying you. IF you have anything in Writing then contact a head hunter to collect and give them their 25% that they charge to get your money. ALSO SOME banks will help you with collection by recommending someone to help you collect your debt.
The requirements is a SIGNED agreement OR and accepted bill for services given. A handshake and a wink does not hold up in court.
As my dad said "the ONLY TRUE FRIENDS are the ONES IN YOUR WALLET and all others want to steal your friends." Translation, trust only yourself and go from there.

                      Jane

i believe that most of the people on this message board want to help you... but remember there are thousands who read and dont write that would have no problem taking advantage of you. they read all your posts and know your weaknesses and know how to use you. thats the danger of the internet.
be wise and careful what you write, do NOT give your S/S # to anyone and by all means, do NOT send money.... They are right...go to your lender first....

                        Jane,
You shouldn't have to pay anyone up front...only when they have accomplished the deed!! The one where they put it on the back side is a forbearance. Some mortgages I have have done that without even doing any paper work. You should ask for anything and everything. There are some real good Foreclosure sites that give some real good info!! Was told that this fee could be added to the mortgage instrument when a new agreement was settled on. Smart move researching them..am lucky as we have a friend that does this for us..amazing the thing she has found out!

There is also some Attorney's that are doing pro-bono work in this area. Also, there is legal aid.. This a free service!!

Thanks Nancy for your advice and help. And don't worry Carol, I will watch for the scam artists. Now if my headache would go away, I would be fine.
