  • Florida Racefest at New Smyrna?

    As seen on Speed51.com...

At the Greensville-Pickens Speedway this weekend, the PASS South officials said they have booked a date at New Smyrna Speedway for January 29th & 30th, 2010.

This could be a pretty big deal, but haven't heard anything come out of the track as far as details, etc...

This could bring in a lot of out-of-state racers, like the old Speedfest did at Lakeland.

Keep us informed of any new developements!

THis would be a great thing for both PASS as well as NSS... Hope to hear that this comes true very shortly...

I also thought I saw mention that that on April 17th NSS is hosting the USAR series. Lots of good racing heading our way in 2010 it appears.

        Press release seen on Speed51:

Pro All Stars Series President Tom Mayberry has announced that the short track touring series will sanction, officiate and promote a non-points Super Late Model race at New Smyrna (FL) Speedway on Friday and Saturday, January 29 and 30 2010. The event marks the first visit to Florida for the ten year old short track sanctioning body that currently sanctions and promotes five touring series in nine states and Canada.

“We’re excited to have reached an agreement with New Smyrna to put on the inaugural PASS Florida Winterfest at their great facility, “said Mayberry in announcing the event. “ New Smyrna is synonymous with winter short track racing, and I know that there is interest throughout the Super Late Model ranks for an extra distance mid-winter event. We expect to see the best of the best from across the country at PASS Florida Winterfest.”

PASS Florida Winterfest will utilize PASS rules and race procedures, including the fan friendly feature format that restarts the field double file and offers up the advertised distance under the green flag. Tentative plans call for the Super Late Models to go 150 green flag laps, with a lap 100 break to make adjustments and change two right side tires if desired.

Supporting divisions will be announced shortly. For marketing and media questions, contact Norm Desjardins at (603) 539-3368 or normdesjardins@roadrunner.com. Technical questions should be addressed to Scott Reed at 207-625-3230.

Click on www.racewithpass.com or www.proallstarsseries.com for updates on PASS Florida Winterfest as well as the latest Pro All Stars Series news. A downloadable entry form will be posted on both web sites shortly.

This is the part I like the most:

"PASS Florida Winterfest will utilize PASS rules and race procedures, including the fan friendly feature format that restarts the field double file and offers up the advertised distance under the green flag.

They are right... both of these ideas are "Fan Friendly". Looking forward to more news, pre-entries, etc... This could be a real good show!

A little more research shows that the PASS-North division had 94 cars entered into a race in 2009. Sveral are cars that show up in both series, but there's still about 150 cars that are legal in this series.

              BRING IT ON!!!!!!

Now that would be something that would be a great thing to see... A huge race at NSS... I remember racing from years past when all of the races were busy... And it would be so neat to see it again at every event...

                Have a great day all...

I can hear the party started already... Right Jerry and Roger and Jim and all the rest of the gang....

                  Ahhh...memories...

World Series bringin' down TONS of great cars and drivers from up north...

The Cracker 200...the last year I can remember was when Sprague came down in Hamke's car and killed 'em. Probably about '88. That was a great field of cars there.

Maybe if these guys come down for the PASS race, they might stick around for the World Series unless the rules are radically different.

Ahh Mr. McKinley... What a good thought... Now that does seem like someone was thinking when they did the scheduling for that... But one must also check PASS's other races to make sure that nothing of theirs is scheduled...

But it would sure be great thing to see....
