  • SGMP...What a racetrack!

Drove my first race at SGMP last night. What an AWESOME facility! The cleanest and best lit track I've ever been to! At LEAST two grooves and the highest line is the fastest so there's alot of passing on the outside. Even though it's an hour and a half tow, I may have found my new "home track"!
Also, watched the late model race from the grandstand and was able to walk over to the dragstrip and watch some short attention span racers doing their thing!

Only complaint is it cost $30 to get in the gate(normally $25)because of the 125 lap late model race. And an additional $35 for registration(normally $10)because they ran our class 40 laps (normally 25?). I got $200 for 4th place so that's not TOO Bad, I guess.

    Looked great!!

Hey RSB, you looked great out there. 2 years off didn't slow you down a bit. I'm just wanting to see how you do when your car is finished. I agree, that is one hell of a race track. I love racing there it's just a long haul. Let me know when you go back and I'll join you.

Sorry we could not join you John, but the Halloween party was great.
Saw some young gals dressed(barely) that I think were in some of those dirty e-mails we get.
      Maybe next time.

Cool place isn't it John? I've been there a few times now, and all the shows have been real competitive. Multiple grooves, smooth surface, and a true D-shaped track make for good racing.

Sounds like you had fun. Let me have more advance notice of the next time you go, and I'll try to meet you there.

Sure wish they'd move that track a lot closer to home!

RSB, I am making an assumption here that you ran a sportsman car.....what type rules do they have up there and what gear did you run?

                    "Rocketman"

WTG on your win! i know the car count was low but a win is a win....you got the trophy! You are the man! Things will get better. I was looking at license plates this weekend and alot of "snowbirds" showing up early... Tracks need to start promoting as never before!!!! Have "Yankee" days... their money is goooood. ;-) take it from a 1973 transplant! Now is the time to get out in full force and make the shows good enough to drag them in!

I checked their website for rules. They don't show 'sportsman' rules.

RSB I already ordered a motor. Hope to have it end of November.

                          Fred

The car's not a sportsman in most places. I tried to run with their Hobby stocks but I had a four barrell on my crate and they run 4412's. I also had slicks(worn out 8") and they run a 9" treaded tire. I was told you can run any tire one time and one time only. Anyway, I ran a 488 final with the crate but I would probably run a 5.42 with MY motor. A 5.29 would probably work too. Rules are on their website.

As I said before, it's an awesome facility and a real "racey" track!

                            Hey Jim

Go to track rules then general rules and they're listed under super stock. They never checked anything but weight on my car.

Yup, I checked last night. Could probably slide the back up car threw tech, but not my regular sportsman with 3 link-Howe chassis.
however the back up car has all aftermarket body and no steel roof. Oh well.
