#1 - A Le-Mans style start? Line up the cars on the bandolero track like for an autograph session, start the drivers up against the pit wall and have them race down to the cars, strap themselves in and set off once they're ready?
#2 - A tag-team race - have the drivers in pairs, and either have them race 10 laps then come down to the front and hand over to the next driver to complete the race, or have both drivers in the race then have them swap cars over at the halfway mark! So they do the full race split over two cars.
#3 - a race I would *love* to see as the season finale for a track. Relax the rules to make it more like an enduro/British 'banger' race, so pretty much anything goes as long as glass and breakables are out of the cars, and the essential safety features are in place. Then have the drivers from ALL the classes entered to stick them all in the same kind of car and see who really is the track champion! I'd love to see all the top drivers having a go at each other in relatively equal equipment.
Imagine having someone like Alan Bruns racing Alex Kempf from the Legends in a couple of old Ford Escorts, having Hired Gun and SS29 chasing down the SLM drivers in beat up old bangers, or just seeing the Superstocks guys like Billy Cuddy out there mixing it with the Truck and OWM drivers. I'd pay good money to see that race!
[Naturally, I'm sure there are a load of practical reasons why none of those would work, but hey, it's nearly the end of the season!]

Andy... I like the LeMans-style start, but you have to keep this in mind... some idiot will be willing to drive off WITHOUT fastening his belts, just to get a jump on the field.
It's a shame that at least one moron would be willing to take the chance of dying, just for a better chance at a trophy.

Ok, here is a Boneman original. The "Carwash" race. This is probably best suited for Orlando.
Cover turns 1 and 2 with lots of dust, oil dry and even hay. Then cover turns 3 and 4 with water. Maybe use soapy water! Add a few fire trucks squirting their hoses into the air for effect. Let the Strictlys race through the mess. Then the announcer springs a surprise on the fans: for the last two laps, the firehoses are pointed at the cars. Dangerous, I know. So you turn the pressure way down and only shoot at door level.

I still love the idea of all the drivers from the different classes racing the most basic cars possible to level the field. The other thing they used to do at my local speedway track for the last meeting of the season was a mechanics and staff race, where all the riders mechanics raced on their rider's bikes, and the track staff borrowed bikes to race against each other. The old track electrician showed so much promise he ended up riding for the team a couple of times in an emergency, and a couple of the mechanics were better than the riders!

Years ago, when they were the runabout class, they use to make them run in the opposite direction half way in the race. Was quite interesting and fun. I guess you could also do a "let's switch drivers race" and put another driver in your car and you drive his/her's. Might be interesting and then you would know if it is the driver or the car that is better.

heck lets do fifty laps and see who best driver is and no junk ever thing has to be not over two years old no rules no red lights now that sounds like a good race some thing like a fan patisapation race but have them all out there at once

Or lets race 20 laps using pit road!
never happen. the end of pit wall is too much of a safety hazard.
some idiot will be willing to drive off WITHOUT fastening his belts, just to get a jump on the field.
yep, that's the problem with a Le Mans start. unless you had a track official for every single car in the race....
The "Carwash" race.
Jefferson Speedway in Wisconsin does a race somewhat like this.
except they have a field of little FWD cars trying to chase down a big mid-70's RWD 4 door tank ... which has a guy spraying the entire track behind him down.Racers Supporting Racers - for all your Vero Beach area automotive repair needs:
