  • Chilly night at NSS

But some good racing, some good performances from the forum drivers, and a couple of incidents that raised a smile!

Firstly, thanks to everyone I met up with there for making me feel so welcome. It was really cool to get into the infield and say chat to Flraceguy, Boneman, ss29, MSeay10 and Edm even if it *was* freezing cold and all the light's had been turned off! And I'm now the proud owner of one the legendary Boneman whoopie cushions...

The racing was decent with some incidents, a lot seemingly caused by the cold weather (some real tear-up crashes in the late models with drivers struggling to get the power down on cold tires from restarts) and decent car counts in all but the OWMs.

Sportsman race was uneventful but had some overtaking, and Edm made the pass of the race to gain a place late on by setting up the #10 on the second turn to dive under him going into the 3rd.

Superstocks was the usual banging and crashing, but did anyone else notice the #3 came dangerously close to being lapped by the pace truck on the white flag lap at the start? It was barely over the start line by the time the pace truck peeled off into the pits!

Late Models had the most incidents, starting with the #55 spinning off during the warm-up laps, and a big crash before they could even take the green flag for the first lap that nearly took the race sponsors own car out! Plenty more passing, crashing and lead changes all the way through, with the only down side being MSeay's #10 retiring early with a very sickly engine.

Ministocks race was a good one, with the #81 spinning out on the first turn and nearly putting the Boneman into the wall. The race split into two or three packs, with the #81 eventually winning but Boneman working his way up from the back row to finish a great 5th. And all with a car he's not worked on and assured us was totally underpowered!

Strictly Stocks saw the #54 get away to a whole straightaway lead at one point, only to be hunted down by ss29, Hired Gun and the #59. The last few laps saw lots of doors and bumpers banging together, with the #54 going up into the wall and not being too happy about it.

So a good night for the forum's drivers all in all. Again, many thanks for making me feel so welcome!

WOW Andy - I'm impressed with your writing of last night's event at NSS. Are you a professional writer by chance - if not, you might consider it.

MORE IMPORTANT ISSUE - I hope that cushion does NOT have a picture of my face in such a location that would come in contact with your "Aft" portion of your frame. There had been talk of placing a great image of OSF on said cushions, but I would only allow such action if I could autograph each and every one (for a resonable "One Time Fee" - not to be less than the highest purse paid at current event).

Continue with your writings when you attend races...almost made it life like.

    Thanks
Thank a Police Officer for what they do........... OSF:

      Thanks, OSF!

I forgot to mention the driver who got the biggest cheer of the night - the guy driving an old Ford sedan in the spectator races. On his one-lap race he managed to do a full 360 spin coming off the 4th turn that took him dangerously close to the pit wall. He bettered himself in the 5 lap run-off by getting totally sideways coming off that same turn, skidded down the front straight with his nose getting right up close to the wall, but somehow held on, kept it out of the fence and straightened it out to keep 2nd place. A very well driven Nissan 350Z looked like a real racecar to win all $300 in prizes, but that Ford got the standing ovation from the fans!

I had So much fun last night! I will admit, i was bumping the 54. he trying to block two car at once me and 59. I then made a pass for the lead, one lap after he hit the wall. The officials said I had nothing to do with him hitting the wall. Now After getting photos taken as I pull back into the pits the mother of the 54 throws a full bottle of water at me and hits me in the jaw! Now what should be done about that?

The Boneman proved that he can be quite the wheel man. Between watching BM picking them off and the race for the lead I would have to say the MiniBandelarostock race was my favorite of the night. The late model race was pretty good, I enjoyed watching the 46 pass on the outside and inside until he tangled with the 20 for the lead. A little more patients and he would have won the race.
I would have liked to stick around and tell lies but I had some wheels to pick up before the journey home.

The ministocks had one of the best races of the night, just without the contact and incidents of the LMs and Strictly Stocks at the end. From talking to him before the race Rex had convinced me that he'd have more chance in the race if he'd talked the tow truck driver into pushing him round rather than rely on his own power, but he did a great job picking off the cars in front of him using driving ability and racecraft rather than raw power, and then held a late challenge off well to keep his 5th place.

Perhaps his best move of the night seemed to be waiting until the last minute to strap himself in and head to the pit road for his class to form up. The #3 got there early, while the LMs were still on formation laps, and then had to sit there throughout all the clean-ups and restarts that followed before they'd even put a single lap on the board. I hope his car had a heater on-board...

"Minibandelerostock". Yep, I gotta admit that driving is so much easier with a centrifigal clutch. There is one less pedal to worry about! If only they came with power steering, then even edm could drive one.

It was a pretty good night at NSS.....a few observations from the night...EDM did finally bite the bullet and stick his nose in there to get by the 10 car. He did have to use a little bumper and then got a little back on his way by. The 10 let us say drives a wide car. He can be difficult to get by. Ed and my father were discussing this very situation during the autograph session. It was good to see a few different and returning sportsman back. Donnie and Foster were both back and Michael Williams was driving a car he was working on for someone. Hopefully the car count will continue to get bigger over the last month with people tryng to get their fix before the end of the year.
I don't know if this is new news but...Boneman actually had a coffin in the back of his truck last night. He originally parked it next to us, it was a little creepy. He did wheel the bone special to an impressive 5th place finish holding of a challenger for a few laps at the end. I wonder if Rex will let Michael Seay bury his LM motor in the coffin....after a guestimated 10k laps that old geeser finally bit the dust. I heard his dad say it threw a rod.
I missed the Strictly race, we snuck out right before they were going out...it was nice to get out of there at 10:00 for a change. Of course I get home at a decent hour and the yankee/angel game goes 13 and gets over at about 1AM.

                        To Hiredgun

WHIP HER ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The grandmother wants to run her mouth up there in tech not knowing what she's talking about, what happend, the kid had a tire issue went into the wall, so what, get over it. but instead they want to blame the other drivers, you, the 59 ect. they need to invest in some better seeing divices. The 54 kid got alittle bit of what he gives to other divers, and dosent look like he can handle it, the 54 drives like bobby holly, he dosent know how to pass on the outside, just hits them to move them, needs to take a few lessons from someone else. The driver of the 01 superstock maybe, hes a good driver. A few weeks back the Mother of the 54 kid was flicking birds to the strickly stock drivers, wonder why???????
Back to flinging the bottle of water at you, get another female to whip her ass...I know a few people. but honestly. the track should ban her for about a month. ..

I had a great time racing with the guy but I really wanted to be racing with your dad. I'm getting closer, a little more money here and there working the bugs out and a little more seat time and I'll be there.

nobodys hiding behind a fake name and yes, other people say all the time that bobby is always hitting them, which is plain to see just by watching. HE DOES IT TO THE 01 AND OTHERS EVERY WEEK HE IS ON THE TRACK, this week, no he didnt because someone else was in his car, someone that is not out to run everyone over,
