Yeah, Me Thinks you are gona fit in here just fine Andrew! Some time when you get adventurous, wander over to the other coast We have some good heads up racing too. Tomorrow we have a good program, Sprints, Open Wheel Mods and race cars of yesterday. There are several antique racing clubs in the state but these guys really race. It sure brings back memories. We also have a few Britts on staff at the track. The Track is CCMP, in Punta Gorda. If you get to come some time call me and I'll sign you in under my name. 941-737-5857. Hope to meet ya. Bob...

Hey, I like metal things with noisy, smelly engines being driven round and round by people trying to go faster than each other. I've found my American spiritual home on here!

I definitely want to get over to CCMP next year as well as a few of the other tracks I've read about. I'm hoping to see some of the other forum regulars driving too. Should be a great year as it'll be a good way to see more of Florida too.

Maybe next year we need to drivers on here to post where they're driving that weekend in the appropriate thread in 'Jane's Corner'? I know most people have their home tracks week in and week out, but it could tip the balance in favor of a longer trip somewhere if you knew someone from here was venturing out to a new track?

The offer here is good any time Andy. I don't drive any more, I shoot video of driving. I have been in the video business for 25 years now, and I am way better at that than I was racing. I'll put you behind a camera if'n you ain't carful. I have taped all over the southeastern US and I love it. If you'll send me your address I'll send you a sample. Bob...

That would be great, Bob! I actually made it over to Sarasota for the first time a couple of weeks ago - it was a real chore to have to stay in the Ritz Carlton with my work picking up the bill, I can tell you... -so I know the drive over to CCMP isn't too bad. All being well we might get over this year seeing as your season goes on so long. I definitely want to get out and see Rob Abney's car driving sometime too, not least because I absolutely love watching those modifieds racing!

Actually, we only live just around the corner from Avalon Park so if you're playing Tijuana Flats when OSW is closed we'll come in and say hello, especially if there's another meet-up there one night!

By the way can I ask all of you a favor? If you stop by Tijuana Flats any time soon, please ask then when John Tenney is playing again

Maybe they will change their minds if enough people ask!

Will definitely do - I've got gigs myself using the same tactic, records stocked in stores, even the odd play on the radio.

And if ever you need a bass player...

You know you've married the right woman when her response to sending her an email to tell her that OSW is rained out is to reply with one saying 'Are they still racing at New Smyrna on Saturday'...

So you do you wait until the end of the racing and climb down onto the track and over into the pits? We usually head out straight at the end, but we'll definitely come across to say hello if we can get over there. I love watching the modifieds at NSS, and it's always good watching Tim Walters and William Hindman battling it out there with the NSS regulars.

John T - I'll drop you an email when I get a chance.

Nope there are two ways to do it... one is to walk around and down the track, but then you have to walk all the way around the track later to get to the car... Otherwise, hop in your car, drive around and come on down to the infield with your vehicle to the NE corner of the pits (turn 3)... You can't miss it... We will be down there and Rex should be down over by 3 on the concrete... And if all goes well, Tim and M Seay should be down over there as well.. So looking forward to seeing you out there tonight and don't forget the autograph session... It should be a good one... Give me a call heading out for the autograph session if you come out for it as I would love to meet you in person... Have a great day and see you at the track...

                      Remember..

Go Fast and Turn Left...... unless you do a little road racing.. then it is Left then right left then right and so on and so on...

All being well we'll be down there tonight and will definitely come down for the autograph session. So if you get a call on your cell that says it's from New Jersey (a 551 code) you know it's from me! It'll be great to meet everyone that's there, but be warned - I may come armed with some technical questions, as I'm desperate to find out more about the cars, how to drive an oval properly, etc!

I'll figure out how to come around afterwards too. I think I know what you mean, but as we always park behing the main stand and go straight out afterwards I'll clarify it when I get there.

Thats hilarious!!!!!!!! I've been pretty busy the last couple of days and haven't been reading too much. I can see that I clearly have been missing out.

It was good to meet you last night Andy, too bad I didn't have more time. Thanks for supporting the race tracks.

You too Ed, especially getting to see your car close up. It really is one of the nicest out there. It was a really cool night, and the chance to see what NSS looks like from inside the track was incredible. Just makes me even grateful that you guys strap on a helmet and climb inside a car to entertain people like me when you see how high that banking is and how hard you guys drive around there.

Thank you, I figured that if I am gonna be slow, then I am gonna look good doing it. Actually when I was a kid at the short tracks in North California I always picked the best looking car to cheer for, I want that kid that I used to be to root for me.

You really do have to drive pretty hard. I'm racing with a crate motor so I have to push it a little harder then most. I am glad to know that there are fans like you out there. We need more like you at the tracks every week.

I can totally appreciate that - I always do the same thing, as long as it doesn't look *too* good and then sits at the back of the race! My wife goes the totally opposite way and roots for the cars that look like they've had a life and got into a lot of scrapes along the way - hence why her favorite car right from the start was David Gould's old #16D superstock when it was still all black with a spray-painted number on the side. She was so disappointed when he finally got that all-new red paintjob on it...
