  • Hey Andy S

Quit lurking! I sure enjoyed meeting you and your wife the other night at OSW. We need some new opinions around here, especially with the international racing that you have experienced.

BTW: most of these obnoxious turkeys on here are actually much nicer in person!

And some of them are not as nice in person. Some of you know who I mean. Just look at the previous post for a hint.

          Jump in....the waters fine...........

......ly contaminated with outspoken, opinionated, thesaurus carryin' wanna be racers. It's like group therapy at an all night chicken and margarita stand in downtown L.A.

          You'll love it.

And for the record....I only hate one person on here.....well, maybe two...no...make that thr..FOUR!.....four people that I can't stand to...oops....five.....five peo.......oh hell.

          You're all freakin' jerks.

And I mean that in the most non-upsetting and kindest way possible. Really.

Yea - The BONE is right about one thing.... "even the most obnoxious"
            are mostly nice people...
Hell, the obnoxious (who ever they are) are the only reason "Some" of us return... its fun interacting with one another is such a way, especially when no one sticks his/HER nose into the conversation....like a "Holyier than thou" one day and posting nasty stuff another day". Guess you'd call that a "Flipper" huh?
OOPS, got to go... heard a group of people down the hall and I want to go do some "Name Dropping" so I can feel good about myself. (its a mental problem thing I've been dealing with since I got old).

HEY OJ.... ST?U (hee hee)...we still like ya, well, some of the others still like ya!

OK, you talked me into it!

I've been reading the forum for about 6 or 7 months now and have really learned a lot from it, not least a lot of the technical stuff a mere spectator like myself wouldn't know about otherwise. I'm actually British and have lived over in the US for about 5 1/2 years now, moving down to Florida a year ago for work, so this is my first year watching short track stock car racing, and both me and the wife are absolutely loving it.

My background is in motorbike racing, particularly motorcycle speedway (rarely seen over here, but incredible to watch - single-geared alcohol-burning 500cc singles in superlight frames and with no brakes racing on 300yd dirt ovals) but I love all types of motor racing. Being British I love F1 of course, and have really got it NASCAR since I've been over here as it's rarely shown in the UK.

So far this year we've managed to see races at OSW, NSS and Auburndale but now we know the area better we're hoping to get out and about more next years, especially up to Ocala and Volusia to see some dirt races.

Anyway, nice to meet you all!

No not at all, just associating you with obnoxious.

Welcome to Karnac Andy, thanks for supporting racing at the local short tracks. As you can see OSF ran them all off so now we need more.

You guys better be careful of Andy. He is British, so he probably has a background as a soccer hooligan. I expect to see him with his face all painted up and leading a riot in the Speedworld stands. Those guys are EXACTLY the kind of fans we need over here to spice things up.

next time you go to NSS wait until after the races and you can come down in the pits and meet folks... you would be surprised at who some of these people really are...

                          LOL...

And if you want to learn things, despite their obnoxious and rude behaviors in the online world, alot of these folks are very very knowledgeable and will help you learn things... So hope to see you soon at OSW or NSS... Too many cars to work on and not enough time....

ps.. if you like road racing, there are several on here that do that as well... Right Michael and Rex...

Thanks for the welcome! I had no idea you could get over into the pits at NSS after the races so will certainly try and do that one week. I've chatted to a couple of racers when they've had the autograph sessions out on the tracks before, but that was early on in the season when I didn't really understand the racing that much. It's surprising how different it is to anything I saw back in the UK, but thanks to a lot of the posting on here, and having been to so many races now, I can see the differences, understand the different classes a little better, and generally have a better feel for it. As I said, this forum has been great for that with the technical and technique discussions that break out from time to time as it's really helped me figure some of this stuff out.

Of course, what I *really* need is to sit with someone explaining the lines you guys take around the track. My whole experience in the UK is on flat circuits so I'm really trying to figure the lines you take in and out of the banked corners. I know they're controversial on here (!) but those brake lights on the strictly stocks help with knowing when the drivers are getting back on the gas. I see they're even making their way onto Late Models at OSW these days!
