Clarification of new FASCAR Rules on Drivers Under the Age of 14

Orlando, FL (December 13, 2007) There has been alot of confusion since FASCAR announced that anyone under 14 will no longer be allowed to race at any FASCAR tracks. This release will clarify for everyone exactly what it means.

Anyone under the age of 14 can no longer race at any FASCAR track with the exception of Bandolero Bandits, Young Guns, Legends, and Thunder Roadsters.. INEX600 carries their own insurance for their licensed drivers and you must be licensed by 600 to race at Orlando SpeedWorld. If you do not have a 600 license, you will not be allowed to race. The under 14 age requirement does include all other divisions.

All drivers under the age of 18 will now be required to get an extra medical policy from the track insurance company which covers a driver at any track around the country as long as they are in a racecar. Cost is $400.00 per year effective from January to December and must be purchased by January 1, 2008. Kim Brown will be at Orlando SpeedWorld this weekend with the forms but you can call for a form to be faxed or mailed to you at 386-427-4129, ext. 0. When the insurance receives your completed form and check, they will immediately notify Kim Brown and a card will be sent to the policy holder for proof of insurance.

Anyone under the age of 18 in a upper class - Sportsman, Modified, Late Model, Super Late Model, Truck, etc. must complete a racing resume with prior experience in racing. Please contact Kim Brown for form.

so jane i cant race the 2 races in january since im not 18 i turn 18 on march 13 and i not going 2 pay $400 to race 2 races. if u ask me kids under 18 should not have to pay $400 to race.

If I'm reading this correctly, if you don't have the insurance purchased by Jan. 1st, 2008, then you can't race until Jan. 1st, 2009?

And what about "being insured at any racetrack in the country"? It sounds like they extorting race drivers into buying a personal policy for themselves. Not a bad idea, but why would that have to be purchased from the tracks Insurance carrier"? It should be worded that a driver "needs X amount of coverage on themselves", rather than "you have to buy it from us".
And real nice of them to give everyone 3 weeks during the Holidays to come up with an extra $400.00, or wait until next year.

My comments aren't directed at OSW, Fascar, or NSS. This is solely my opinion that Insurance companies are a bunch of leeches that have found a new way to take money from our pockets... and they wanna be paid NOW!

Insurance companies, doctors, lawyers, and politicians all suck!

Before everyone goes off on Jane or FASCAR... lets remember that this was deemed necessary by the Insurance company... and it's not that far fetched either... in other parts of the Country you can't even get into the pits, let alone race, if you are under 18...

When I was 16 I had to go through all kinds of paperwork and $$ just to get a NASCAR License (at $165.00 just for the License) just so I could walk through the gate (at Full Price) every week... and I wasn't driving ANYTHING!

With all the money that is spent on Toter-Homes and Rigs... $400.00 for an Insurance policy is not that much...

Would you rather have the Insurance Company offer you the chance to race for an additional $400.00/yr... or just say... that's it... No one under 18 PERIOD!

Let's not lose sight of the fact that you ARE A MINOR! regardless of how long you have been Racing or how good you are or how much money you have... YOU ARE A MINOR!

Plenty of Minors Drink... yet the US Gov says you gotta be 21... so lets say you been drinking since you were 14... and are pretty damn good at it... what would you say if the US Gov said for $400.00/yr you could by a temp Drinking License that would allow you to do it legally... I doubt there'd be much bitching about it then!

All the years racing has been going on and now the insurance companies are getting more greedy by suckering people out of thier hard earned money for something like this??????,I could understand about the under age 14 part,But purchasing a extra medical policy for anyone under the age of 18 that races is just plain out ridicalous....I thought that was what the high pit entry fees are for to cover the insurance in case you get hurt no matter how old you are if you race or not?????....JMO

Is hell yea I would bitch if my teenage child could buy a drinking license that makes him legal to drink under 21 .That is obserd and unheard of,Just like with this extra medical policy crap the insurance is making people buy.

It sounds like a classic case of you scratch my back(track insurance) and I'll scratch yours(track Owner). It is kind of like saying if you have health insurance that's fine but if you want use an emergency room hear in Florida you will have to buy an extra policy from a hospital here in Florida.

What happens for Speedweeks. Do all the under 18's racing at NSS have to pay $400 for the week. That's a little steep. That would turn me away. What if the ASA or another another touring series runs there. Would all thoses team have to pay $400 per team. And they all have to buy it by the 31st of this month or they can't race in'08. That's crazy.

Interestingly enough, most race track deaths (short track) over the past ten years have been drivers over the age of 50... Mostly from heart attacks or other ailments that occured during a race, or many times just in the pits... The last two drivers who died at New Smyrna (excluding the Sheriff last year) were Homer Gordon and Michael Cope, both of massive heart attacks... I'm really surprised the insurance compainies haven't realized this and tacked on an extra charge for drivers over 50, maybe even over 40... Both Gordon and Cope were relatively young...

First, don't beat up the poster. This is what I was told and this is what I put out. If you don't purchase the insurance by January 1, then you will have to have it by March 14th when the season opens to race if you are under 18. I also will have to purchase this for Alex to race and yes it is alot of money but if that is what is required, then I have to do it for him to race.

For the $400.00 you get an extra $250,000 in medical insurance and when you look at today's cost if something should happen, that is not a bad deal. I think Alex is well worth that and more and I know just how much medical bills can be when someone is hurt. Heck, if you are under 25 and a man your car insurance cost almost that in some places per month.

Jane, no pun intended on my part. Sorry if I offened you. I just had a couple of questions that I hoped you or someone else could anwser about the non fascar touring series and Speedweek. I would hate to get to Speedweek and find out my son's pit pass was $425.

mark, since you know everything not everybody under 18 has a toterhome and stacker trailer and this isnt NASCAR its FASCAR. some cant afford it. ya'll wanted cars to race with you in the winter series so we do and i was trying to win the points thing now i cant because of this. if i would have known then i wouldnt have started the winter series. its bull crap now i cant race the last 2 races. what if my parents have insurance on me why do i need another one?

Matt, I was not singling you out with the Toter-Home comment... I apologize if you took it that way... but I do know that your Parent's Insurance will laugh at you if you try filing a claim if you get hurt in a Racecar...

Just like if I wreck my Jeep during a pace lap... my Insurance will NOT cover it... you need Insurance specifically intended for Racing in order for it to be covered...

As far as the Winter Series goes... I'm not sure anyone knew about this up until about a week or so ago...

I would look at it as another form of protection... like a Fire suit, Gloves, Shoes, Belts, Hans Device... just one more piece of protection for not only you, but your Parents as well.

So with all this happening with changes in insurance, how much will the FASCAR license be for drivers, car owners and crew chiefs for the 2008 season?
