  • Bobby Diehl steps aside at CCMP

Read it on the CCMP forum: Bobby Diehl is turning over operation of the speedway to Gary LaPlant effective October 1.

As an observer who never raced at his track, I can tell you that I admire Bobby's wide open promotion style. I am sure his track was never boring! Its a shame that his tenure at the helm coincided with tough economic times that hurt fans and racers. Who knows what he could have accomplished under different circumstances, or what he has in store in the future. I don't think we have seen the last of Bobby Diehl!

      About Bobby...

Because of economic problems of the last year or two, race tracks are hurting. Besides being a race track owner, Bobby is a school teacher. He had taken some time off to get the track on its' feet.
Bobby's family is the most important part of his life and he has chosen to take on his teaching position full time in order to support them without worrying about rain or all the other problems associated with racing.
Gary has been working along with Bobby for a few years now and he is familiar with the operation.... hopefully Gary will be able to bring the fans and the drivers and run a successful race track... I dont think Bobby is done either Boney... racing is the blood that flows thru his veins.
Good luck Bobby Diehl. I for one will miss you very much... and good luck and best wishes to Gary LaPlante... it's a huge undertaking and if I can help, just yell...

Does this mean we won't be seeing anymore of his annoying ads on the board?

oh dear edm..... ya still got me to bash! ;-)

this means that one of the hardest working, most enthusiastic race promoter will not be able to! Bobby got everyones attention with the little pink jumpers...lol sure got yours huh Ed?
this board would be less exciting than an obituary column without the likes of people such as Bobby Diehl... like it or not he captured attention!
ive heard that bad publicity is far better than no publicity...

I'm not bashing anyone, I like the fact that he actually promoted his track. The ignore feature works really well on the board though.

Good luck Bobby going back to teaching. I know it is not an easy job since I come from a long line of teachers in my family. And I certainly, more than alot, understand hard economic times. I am also looking for new revenues to save my home although I will still be at Volusia as long as they will have me. But good luck sweetie and see ya around.

Take care Bobby and especially take care of that family you love.

Lol, damn public schools. No offense but I would be pissed if my kids teacher couldn't spell or use proper punctuation.

Here is a copy od Bobby's post

I think some of you have miss read his post I will attach what he said here so you can read for your self. I think he is saying he is stepping asside from the everyday operations, but not leaveing CCMP all together, it looks like he will still be involved and I am sure post on here and promote his track. He just wants someone who has more time to deal with everyday operations to be abel to do what needs to be done to make it best for all Track, Drivers, and Fans.

                            Here is his post :

Attention: Staff, Fans , Driver, Car Owners

It has been a good year for us at CCMP and we look forward to a great season for 2010. As you all know I have taken a full time teacher job now and it is a bit harder for me to handle the full operation of CCMP.

As of October 1, 2009 I have asked Gary Laplant to take over the operation of CCMP so anyone who has questions or issues can be answered in a better timely manner here in the future while I am teaching at school.. I will be on hand on the weekends at CCMP to work with Gary Laplant on racing matters.

Gary Laplant has been my director of operations over the last few months and has done a great job for CCMP. I know Gary looks forward to working more closely with the staff and drivers of CCMP and getting every thing in order for the 2010 racing season.

                            Bobby Diehi
