  • Congrats to Aaron Barsness

A bit late with this, but congratulations are in order for Aaron Barsness who won his first career feature race in the Sportsman class at Volusia last Saturday night... The Barsness family has been sponsoring the live webcasts thru their business Incredible Pizza, so it was great to see Aaron get that first win and man did he have that new car hooked up!! Scott Lagasse, Jr. has been working with him and it's really showing... To top it off, Aaron's mom & dad had flown in to watch him race and he ends up winning... What a competitive class this is at VSP... There were drivers who won features earlier this year that were struggling to get a top ten finish!!

I also have been meaning to post something about this. The Sportsman class at VSP has been rocking! The rules seem to have most of the field very competetive with each other, and plenty of cars could win each week. Side-by-side racing was almost constant, 3-wide racing more times than I can count, and even a few different 4-wide moves. And not the 'Nascar at Pocono' type of 4 wide, where they mean 4 grooves, not 4 cars across, as there was at VSP. The Mini-Stock class also had a ton of 3 and 4 wide racing.

Aaron Barsness did a great job in both the heat and the feature. It looks like they may have a bigger budget than most teams in this class, but someone still has to drive it, and drive it he did. This kid is smoooooooooth! I didn't see him put one wheel out of place the entire night, and it wasn't just me that noticed. The people parked on both sides of me each noticed too, and Aaron came out with a few new fans that night.

My guess is that he will soon have the budget to move up to the Late Models, and if he can do with a LM what he can do with a Sportsman, there could be a new challenge to Collins, Lloyd, Whitener, Nosbisch, and Fitzgerald as one of the best in the state.

For the dollars spent, versus the show you get for the money, VSP has been consistantly a great show each time I've been there this season.

    Top notch... keep it up!!!
