  • New Smyrna overturns the DQs

Check the track website. The two Super Stock disqualifications have been overturned, and FASCAR has clearified a rule.

Applaud, complain or crack jokes about this; a good discussion doesn't hurt a thing. Just make sure you also get your self or your car to a track this week, and take part in writting the next chapter yourself.

      *facepalm*

to throw the bullshit flag! It's easy; look at the rulebook and look at the car/motor.....do they MATCH??

the Super Stock crank rule in it's totality:
      http://www.newsmyrnaspeedway.org/pdfs/09rules.pdf
"H. Crankshaft: stock, unmodified crank, stock stroke for
      block used. Balancing o. k.
      "

it doesn't actually require a factory casting number, it permits "balancing" ( which could quite easily involve lightening ) immediately after it says "unmodified crank", it doesn't have a minimum weight....

compare to the sections for rocker arms, lifters and heads:
      "E. Stock OEM rocker arms. Chevrolet 1.5; Ford 1.6;
      Mopar 1.6.
      F. Standard bore, stock size hydraulic lifters.
      I. Heads: OPEN CHAMBER HEADS ONLY. NO
EXCEPTIONS. No angle milling; no gasket matching.
Stock production cast iron 72 cc minimum heads for all
manufacturers, makes and models. No tolerance Chevy
may use I052. World Product SR o. k.
      "

are OEM parts required? there are parts of the rule book which specify permissible after market parts, there are parts of the book which say only "stock size", there are parts of the book which aren't explicit whether or not they want OEM, stock type unmodified or what.

so, what do you say now dumbassbob? you going to call FASCAR cheaters? because you can't very well call Jon a cheater anymore. he stood up and took responsibility for failing to follow a rule that ... wasn't spelled out in the rule book. d'oh!

i'm going to stop thinking things through, i'm just going to take the opposite position from buttplugbob from now on. there's a lot less work involved that way.

This is the kind of thing that toke the enjoyment out of racing for me.

Great to see FASCAR acknowledge their screw up and overturn the decision. Imagine if they would have been the ones wanting to pull the cranks out. That what racing is all about. Just like Todd said everyone screws up.

NSS is trying to save their show!

I think they realized that, that race was one hell of a show. First time I have been to NSS for regular show in three years, and that was just one of many very good races saturday night. Rex stated on an other thread, what a great night of racing it was. Rex was not overstating. It was a very enjoyable night at the track. Korpi, Holley, and Smith all put on a great race, fast, clean, and hard racing. They did not lap the field. As a matter of fact there were several good battles through out the field.
