So much for the dirt tracks working together. Why would they schedule a race to directly compete with Ocala on a Friday night? Boggles the mind. So disappointing. My photo site: http://www.rewingphotos.com

Just got a call from RSB, and it looks like we are going to make the whole weekend out of it.
Would love to get a bunch more Karnacians to come out camping with us. If you know me at all, you know that food and beer will NOT be in short supply! Throw in a bunch of friends and some good dirt trackin'... makes for a tough weekend to beat.
Who else is interested in joining in???

Jerry - if you are going to camp there for the weekend, any chance I could stay with you guys if I have to. I don't want to drive back and forth from Merritt Island and don't really have that kind of gas money. Would a woman in your pits be okay??
Love ya, got to get myself to Volusia.

sure, Jane!
It's a two man pup tent. You get the middle spot. All that beer drinking and BBQ(I'm bringing the beans) should make for an interesting night...only problem for you is I like to sleep on my left side and Jerry on his right! Gas mask maybe? HA HA!sigpic

WTF is this about? As wing-less said, so much for tracks, and close too, working together.Originally posted by Winger View PostSo much for the dirt tracks working together. Why would they schedule a race to directly compete with Ocala on a Friday night? Boggles the mind. So disappointing.
If the people at Volusia want a war, then Mr. Peters(being a war vet.) can jump right in there. I'll be at the better track on Friday night,OCALA Speedway.
Later.

Sounds like I may need my own tent there guys. I have 3 sons and I know how beans affect them. I think Alex has a tent for me but if I do camp, rather be around someone I know that alone. But I may check into cheap motel rooms around the area. I am sure I can find one somewhere that is reasonable. But I will let you know or if I have another tent.
And I can't see Volusia wanting any kind of war Jim. Tonya is not like that. Here is Ocala's schedule for that Friday night and they do have Late Models but not Modifieds, Sportsman or Street Stocks running. And I looked at the points and most of the Ocala drivers aren't at Volusia that much. But no war here.

Try sellin' some of that at Wal-Mart cause I ain't buyin' it at all.
"Late Model' is the key here. You guys have a good time. The car count will be at Ocala.

This looks like an opening round to me. Ocala has a regularly scheduled show and always run on Friday. Their headline class that night is the late models. Volusia never runs on Fridays and many of the cars that race Late Models at Ocala, on Fridays, run other tracks on Saturday. I don't think it would be an issue if Volusia ran Late Models on Saturday but they have to qualify on Friday, in order to run Saturday. You are making these cars make a choice. (Which of my regular tracks do I support or say, Sorry Ocala, but Volusia has a larger payout for winning and I'm going for that. Looks to me that there wasn't any communication before Volusia scheduled this and that is always the beginning of trouble. Try to justify it any way you want but it doesn't make sense to me. I hope the tracks get together and work something out before fans and drivers have to make a choice.I can't see Volusia wanting any kind of war Jim. Tonya is not like that. Tonya is not like that? Excuse me, but which track deliberately scheduled multi classes right on top of the other's night? It wasn't Ocala, so apparently Tonya IS like that because she did it. Sorry, but I have always been a defender of Volusia. When the folks at Putnam and North Florida were accusing Tonya of the same thing, I defended her publicly. Well, to all of you who tried to tell me different while I defended her, you were right and I was wrong. Just days ago I was singing the praises of Volusia on this very message board. Guess I spoke too soon, huh?

Oh, and Jane? Better check the Ocala schedule again. Your information is badly outdated.

I did take that off the site this morning but it now reads:
Fall Fan Appreciation Night: Adults $8.00, 12 and under free: $2000 to win Late Models, $1000 to win Hobby Stock, $1000 to win V-8 Thunderstock, Gladiators. Door prizes for first 100 fans, food and drink specials all night.
I am not trying to make any war or be in a war but I did take that off this morning sometime. Since I have not been to bed yet from Friday night, I am not sure exactly what time it was but I did take it from the site. I have no reason to lie about that.

No Jane, you did not lie about what you read this morning. Looks like a last minute 'adjustment' to the Ocala schedule to offset another tracks attempt to 'steal the show' by forcing the drivers to make a choice.Originally posted by Jane View PostI did take that off the site this morning but it now reads:

What if Ocala had a qualiying show on Friday night and the features on Saturday night in the same classes as Volusia? I guess your track would have to do something to protect their car and fan count at the last minute. Somebody was not thinking when this 3 day event got planned, however, me thinks someone has brought a knife to a gun fight.
There is still time to make adjustments. Think about it.
OCALA ROCKS
