Dustin Dunn continued his solid season in the ASA Late Model Series South Division by finishing fourth in the next to last race of the season at Concord Motorsports Park on August 29th. Dunn ran as high as second in the first quarter of the race before dropping back to ninth after contact with another competitor knocked him out of the racing groove and allowed half the field to race by.

Concord marked Dunn’s 3rd top five and 6th top ten in six races this season in the ASA Late Model Series South Division. Dunn’s average finishing position is 6.16. That is an amazing average finish for the Jupiter, Florida native who has raced on a less than shoestring budget all year. His team is comprised of himself, his dad, and his mom. Although they are underfunded, they make the most out of each race they compete in.

Dunn has utilized his consistency to achieve the second position in points in the ASA Late Model Series South Division with only one race remaining at his home track, Charlotte County Motorsports Park in Punta Gorda, Florida. Dunn was fast during the practice and qualifying sessions in July before the rains came and forced the race to be rescheduled on October 3rd. Dunn tested at the speedway prior to the trip there on July 11th, and looks to capitalize on things he learned in the test come race time.

“We want to put everything together to run for our first win of the year at Charlotte County,” stated Dunn. “We are going to use the same game plan we have used all year to stay up front and try to claim second in points, but we want to visit victory lane at our home track.”

Dunn enters the race at Charlotte County Motorsports Park only 49 points ahead of third place driver, Justin Larson. “I would love to say that we have breathing room over third, but when you are racing against Justin Larson there is no breathing room,” continued Dunn. “Larson’s team has been a big help to our small team this year, and it is unfortunate that they have had such a string of bad luck.”

Dustin Dunn and his race team would like to thank their sponsors who have helped out during the 2009 ASA Late Model Series South Division. “I want to thank the people who have brought us through this season,” says Dunn. “Demarsico Custom Trim, Checkered Flag Graphics of Valdosta, Georgia, and our newest partner, Fountain Motorsports have all made it possible for us to race this year.”

Dunn hopes that these sponsors will return for 2010, in addition to a few new sponsors. “I think we have opened some new doors for 2010,” commented Dunn. “With the right marketing partners in place we will be able to go from a top five team each week to a contender for the win.” To find out how you or your company can get involved with Dustin Dunn and his race team, contact CMRsouth59@aol.com.
