I know John cares about his track, the problem is, John is simply a messed up individual and just has no clue. He makes deciscions thinking they are for the best, he just literally has no clue as to the messes he creates. Car count is worse at Desoto than anywhere I can think of. Citrus, CCMP, and Auburndale draw far more cars. Yeah, the economy hurts, but things are worse at Desoto than most anywhere else I can think of. Most racers have either left for other tracks and moved on, or simply gave up not being able to justify the immense cost when you get treated like garbage. If he didn't own the property outright, it would already have been closed. No money is going into it, and the place is just deteriorating waiting for a reasonable cash offer. I have watched group after group after group of staff/officials/racers come and go, each one waving the banner of "we can turn this around", and "let's be positive". Unfortunately, the patient has already lost way too much blood and will not survive. Yet a few, call them loyal or stupid depending on your perspective, continue to hold on against hope. Guys, the ship isn't coming in, and all the while John "my way or the highway" Sarpraiccone sits and plays his fiddle while Rome continues to burn. It would suck to lose another track, but what good is Desoto as it is right now? Nobody races there, no fans show up, so what's the point. It's been dead to me for a couple years now. Whether it remains there physically matters little to me as long as the current dictator remains in place.
