  • TBARA - What is happening????

As I'm typing this, it is 12:56pm on Monday, August 31.

The TBARA raced this past Saturday night at Desoto Super Speedway.

Just checked the TBARA website (TBARA.net), to find the results.... NOTHING.

Just checked the Karnac FL Stock Car Racing results/stories.... NOTHING.

Just checked the Speed51.com website..... NOTHING.

Just checked the Desoto Super Speedway Track Results.... NOTHING (John is the ONLY promoter that I am aware of, anywhere, that feels it is unnecessary to post traveling series results with their local results.... enough said).

Did I miss the results anywhere???

What is going on with the TBARA???? This is the best show in Florida, IMHO, and has been for years.

Where can I find the results??? Maybe the FloridaSprintCarFans.com website could do a review of this.... "Why has the TBARA promotion diminished so much this year???"

The TBARA had packed crowds at the recent 5-Flags and Mobile races, yet they are suffering here in Florida. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Marty Little sent out the story... Just that nobody has posted it yet... The overall organization of the TBARA is just a shadow of what it once was...

RACE RESULTS FOR TBARA EVENT AT DESOTO SUPER SPEEDWAY, 8-30-09

    by MARTY LITTLE

BRADENTON, Fla. - TBARA point leader David Steele continued his mastery of the pavement sprint car group Saturday night at DeSoto Super Speedway easily winning the 30 lap main event.

The feature got off to a poor start when several cars tangled and young Dakotah Stephens found the turn four wall to end his night. Todd Schmidt and Johnny Gilbertson suffered problems and retired and Shane Butler spun harmlessly and restarted. The second attempt at a start was nearly as bad but only the car of Ben Fritz was damaged badly enough to end his night.

When things finally settled down it was former series champion Bo Hartley easily in command as he began to stretch his margin over what had been a 17 car starting field. Meanwhile, Steele had worked forward from his 12th starting position and had Hartley in sight when Hartley's mount suffered a broken suspension on lap 11 and retired. Steele took over at that point and was never challenged as he nearly lapped the entire field. Butler claimed runner-up money over Jim Alvis, Steve Heisler and Dude Teate.

Troy DeCaire and Steele won the heat races.

First Heat ( 8 laps) 1. Troy DeCaire, 2. Todd Schmidt, 3. Steve Heisler, 4. Larry Brazil, Jr., 5. Dude Teate, 6. Sonny Hartley, 7. Dakotah Stephens, 8. Jimmy Alvis.

Second Heat ( 8 laps) 1. David Steele, 2. Jim Alvis,Sr., 3. Ben Fritz, 4. Wendy Mathis, 5. Bo Hartley, 6. Shane Butler, 7. Dave Shotsberger, 8. Mike Koss.

    Feature (30 laps) 1. Steele, 2. Butler, 3. Alvis, Sr., 4. Heisler, 5. Teate, 6. Brazil, 7. Mathis, 8. Alvis, 9. Shotsbertger, 10. Koss, 11. B.Hartley, 12. DeCaire, 13. S. Hartley, 14. Fritz, 15. Gilbertson, 16. Schmidt, 17. Stephens.

Sorry about not getting my website updated sooner, but I just did update it a little bit ago.

I try not to publish too many rumors I can't confirm myself, but yes, the TBARA is a mess right now. We might spend some time on it in our next podcast, but at the moment the club is its own worst enemy - bad schedule, loose rules, unhappy club members, no promotion whatsoever. I think you may see even more drivers move over to the CFSS from the TBARA.

And for the record, as much as people like to jump on the TBARA's website, it is not the fault of the person running it, I would like to make that crystal clear. It's the fault of the club not giving that person any information to work with.

That is a nice looking car.

I didn't mean to sound like I was bashing the TBARA, or the person running the website. It's just frustrating as a fan. The next time I'll get to watch them live will be in November at Citrus, and I'm already looking forward to it.

I talked to Troy Decaire two weeks ago, and I know how hard he works to keep his sprint car career alive, both in Florida, and up at the HOSS events.

I'd just like to see Troy and Dave Steele get the coverage they deserve. IMHO, unlike some of the other high-dollar car divisions in Florida (e.g. Super Late Models) where you see young kids with rich parents getting the rides, the TBARA Sprint Cars are still a place where a driver has to really get up on the wheel, in order to have success. That's one of the reasons I still follow the TBARA today.

RF99, the reason rich kids don't have sprint rides, at least not for long, you have to have talent to wheel a 800 HP ground pounder. They are deffently the most exillerating class of cars around. I like them wingless. It shows off the talent even more. When I can watch the Gimmler brothers slither thru a crowd of cars and never touch another. That is great. Makes me want to lay down my camera and watch them. Bob...

Racefan99, you should bash the TBARA, because it is their fault. They should be playing to packed houses everywhere they go, but they're not.

I can tell you now that I have my own website (which I started out of the same frustration you have) it is very clear which series get their news out to the media. It's not the TBARA. Almost every sprint car series promoter has me on their media list and I didn't ask any of them to do so. That's called being proactive.

No websites ever get updated with TBARA information because they never send any out - it's as simple as that. The guy from TJSlideways.com asked me point blank why he never gets any information directly from the club any more because he used to...

Here is the story and results. I apologize for not getting them up any earlier but I was at Columbia yesterday for the "Blast from the Past" and had to take my son to court today twice and just got them up alittle while ago. Jack was not able to help since he was in Orlando with his family since he lost his mom Saturday night and I was not around a computer until late last night. Again, I am sorry but they are here.
