  • Blast from the past Pics

Here are a few pics. I didn't take a whole lot of stills I was busy with video.
The first pic is Jim Fenton with modelcarman. He built this exact replica of Jims FOUR car. The detail brought tears to my eyes. He had several of the old legends cars. Billy Gill, Dave Scarbrough, Gorden Lee And Buzzy reutiman to mention a few. I thin every one that was there enjoyed themselves greatly. Bob...

DUH! I forgot to add the pictures. See thats why I was at the reunion. Old age and Alsheimers set in. Probably butchered that smelling.....
The #5 pic is Ron Abneys Sr's ride. Pretty fast Iron. Bob...

I think I was standing right next to Bob as he took the picture of Jim & Model Car Man (I didn't know until now that's who he was). Gordon Lee was also right there only seconds later, and it was obviously touching to both Drivers and Builder.

They both told Model Car Man that "If nothing else happens today, you just made the trip worthwhile"

Very nice modeling work, and very emotional to these 2 drivers as well!

Jerry Mentioned Gorden Lee I snapped his pic too. You could see the emotion in Model car mans eyes and voice. His love for the sport and his love for recreating a thing close to Jim and Gordons hearts. The reunion was a neat time. If you get the oportunity to go next year don't miss it. It was an experience I wouldn't have missed for the world. I only hope I can do it justice when I edit it. Bob...

Mod Reunion video was excellent. Much nicer product than I thought it would be (no slam on your talents, I just didn't know how it would be woven together).

Worth every penny to me, and I will surely push some sales for you, now that I know for a fact that it is a very good product.

The Richie Evans race was also captured very well. If anyone wants to see "the Race of the Year", it's on here. Must have been 10 or 12 lead changes in that race, and sometimes several in one lap! Definitely one for the ages!

                            WOW, where do I start.

First, thanks Joyce for the event and the hospitality, obviously a good time was had by all! (and thanks also for trying to find a last-minute ride for this old fart!).

Got a chance to meet-n-greet some more Karnac regulars that I hadn’t met yet like AB195 & OCALASP76. Good to put a face with the names. Good to see you again too Frassy, the next beer’s on me man!

Also got a chance to BS with some rivals & competitors from back in the day such as; Kenny Alderman, Frank Barfus, Billy Hancock, Dickie Anderson, Pletcher, Bob Pennington, Butch Yokam, Jim Brinkley, Leroy Porter, Jimmy Cope, Perry Lovelady, Gale Lovelady, Ron Abney Sr., Ron Abney, Jr. (Damn Ron, that boy of your’s was corn-fed wasn’t he?? Geezus, I have to look up to but damn few people but Jr’s definitely one of them! Sure would’ve liked to have had that boy on my side back in the day when we were closing down the bars and settling arguments the old fashioned way. I’m sure we would’ve come out on top a little more often! LOL).

Kidding aside Ron, even though I didn’t recognize you right off the bat it was great to see you again after so many years and also to meet Ron Jr. who was good enough to give me the grand tour of your racer.

BTW Bob, also in the background of that shot you posted above of Gordon and the Model Car Man with Gordon’s #123 Mustang model in the foreground is; Frank & Dottie Barfus (Frank – Camo hat, Dottie – Blue shirt) as well as R.M. “Whitey” Wescott, Bryan Wescott’s father, on the scooter in the straw hat.

Frank Barfus as some of you will remember had a lot of success back in the day at Sunshine Speedway & Golden Gate Speedway in the #73 Tornado car then later in the #73 Late Model. Dottie didn’t do too badly either in the years that she drove in the old Hurricane Class at St Pete for the ladies.

Of course Sunday was the anniversary of Bryan Wescott's passing back in 2001 so that was the main reason that Whitey came to the event.

Then the highlight of the day for me was the model of my old #FOUR Chevelle that Ricky Smallwood (Model Car Man) did for me. I knew he had under construction for some time and was really looking forward to seeing it but I never expected such great accuracy and workmanship.

Trophies are nice and all that but there’s nothing like something crafted by hand from the heart and soul of a fan.

As I said Ricky when you presented it to me it just blew me away. It was a very emotional moment for me indeed and again, I can’t thank you enough!

I know that Gordon Lee was blown away with the replica of his Mustang that you did for him also.

I’m not much of a photographer but here’s another shot of the model Ricky did of the FOUR up against a pic of the real deal so you can appreciate the accuracy. I thought it was appropriate also to shoot the model & pic with the signed checkered flag as a back-drop from Jerry’s last Mod Reunion.

Hope to do this again sometime gang!
