Not 5 minutes before it happened I told my wife that somebody needs to wreck that little bitch. I am normally pretty reserved in person but I couldn't contain myself when it happened. Chase Austin is lucky he didn't get his arm ripped off. My understanding he was talking to his spotter on the radio and his spotter didn't get a chance to let him know the leaders were there. That is one of those freak accidents like when Steve Parks steering wheel came off.

This was totally One-Thousand Percent Austin’s (and his spotter’s) fault!!

I can’t remember hearing a more lame excuse than the one he gave in his post-incident interview. I’ll have to paraphrase but it went something like this: “I had a tire go down and I just couldn’t hold the steering wheel and keep the car up on the high side”.

WTF!! You’ve got to be kidding me??!!

I can understand not being able to turn the car if he had catastrophic damage to the front end but that car had zero damage on it before he turned down in front of the leaders.

This is a perfect example of a Girly-Man if I ever saw one! (Yea….Gover-nator For President!).

I don’t care if he is the pick of the litter for the Diversity Driver program, if the kid can’t hold the wheel straight when he has a front flat, yank his a$$ outa there!

Yes, I’m still a long ways from joining his fan club but kudos to the shrub for coming back out of the hauler and giving a good interview after a ten minute cool-down. I probably would’ve needed an hour cool-down after that.

This is the first time I’ve ever heard him give an interview after things didn’t go his way that was completely free of his typical sulking and whining BS.

I realize someone’s been talking to him about his attitude and the impact it’s having on his public persona and marketability lately but I give him lots of credit for giving such a good objective interview last night ten minutes after the wreck.

The car owner made a bunch of excuses too. Its pretty obvious that he did not know the leaders were there. and KB "good for the sport"? Did somebody put crack in your taco last night? MSN had a great article about that today saying that he is hurting the sport. I will admit he gave a much better interview then I would have and much better then in the past.

as long as Mark makes it into the chase, i think he'll muddle on through.with the speed he's got this year and the bonus points, he's got a good shot at the title.
that's like the bit where he let Johnson have the lead for 2 laps. i was like, wtf? Johnson is practically locked in to the Chase. he isn't the one who needs every point he can get. wound up not making any difference though.

the best part was when Jeff Gordon's car went off and he started falling back through the pack. Larry McReynolds accidently told the truth:
"Losing a lot of spots right here. You can see he's slow, Junior passing him here."

I've seen Chase Austin run on both dirt & asphalt in Late Models, also in the ARCA series, and not one single time did he look like he had ANY clue what he was doing. I didn't see the wreck you all are talking about, but out of these 2, I KNOW who can drive and who can't.

I was glad and sad to see Kyle win. He needs the points to make the chase (and he definitely should be in the chase with 5 cup wins) but I also wanted to see Mark win his 1000th start.

I hope they both make the chase. I don't particularly care to see Kenseth make it.

all i got to say is, he sure was lined up good on the pit road entrance for the steering wheel getting pulled out of his hand. i'm sure he will never admit to anything different though.

him cleaning Kyle out was pure chance. if Kyle hadn't hit him he was going to wipe out Harvick.
