that was a bad asssssssssssssss wreck it's a wonder some one did not get hurt worse than they did it's a good thing they have done so much to the cars to make them safer with hahns and all the other things

but you can;t fix stupid xxxxxxxxxx they need to do something about the track were the wreck happened ... that car should not have came back across the track i can't believe nascar fines you for lug nut but for trying to kill some one it's just a racing thing

You are living proof, you can't fix stupid. Kasey Kahne drives clean and for you to wish for someone to wreck him proves your ignorance.

after looking at kaseys wreck one more time

bossman fan .. i seen that the# 9 did give him two inches that should have been enough room for any body .

and since kasey is such a good little boy it could not have been his fault

i'm glad you got me straight

            ummm, no.

how much space is between the cars is almost always primarily determined by how close the guy on the outside wants to run. it looked to me like Kasey cut a pretty clean apex. that is, the only way he could have gotten lower in the corner would have been to run off of the pavement ... which would have sent him shooting up into Hornish anyways.

keep in mind, i like watching a good outside pass. i love doing them. that Hornish was doing this on a road course is doubly impressive. Hornish might finally be getting the hang of this stock car thing.

Sam was doing what he was supposed to do. he gave room to Kasey ( just ) but he was establishing position low on the track and keeping Kasey bound up. having the guy on the bottom get out of shape and hit you is just a hazard you have to deal with if you're going to try to make a go of the top shelf life. that and having people try to intimidate/chase you up the track. sometimes you get spun into the infield, sometimes you get crowded into the wall. if it's accidental, you talk to the other guy and maybe give him another chance.

if it's intentional? then you back the corner up ~10 feet and it's the guy on the inside who is taking the ride. that's the danger for the guy who is trying to make a living on the bottom shelf.

Kasey "couldn't" back out, the next corner was a left hander and was going to put him on the outside. if he had any hopes of keeping the position, he had to get down that upcoming straight as fast as possible. and he thought, "If Sam can go that fast outside of me, I should be able to at least keep pace with him on the inside". he was wrong. it's a mistake that a lot of racers make.

he just wasn't the one who paid for his mistake this time. and that's not that unusual in racing.

ps - actually, watching the replay again from 0:43 it looks like Kasey might have run onto the white painted warning area which might explain why he got loose in the first place
