  • About our beloved Chaplain Bill.....

Bill was seriously injured by a saw and lost one finger, mutilated two others and messed up his hand. It is his right hand ... tomorrow he is going in for surgery. Please, please pray for the man who has prayed for all of us thru the years.
    Thank you...

God bless you my friend and heal you quickly. If there is anything you or Erica need, please let me know. My love and my prayers are with you both. And if possible stay away from those saws. I once had a friend who cut off most of his toes with a lawnmover when he slipped going downhill and the mower went over his foot. He lost 3 toes but was fine in time as I know you will be too. The Lord will watch over you I know because you are such a good man. I love you and again, let me know if there is anything I can do for you or Erica.
    Always, Jane

        About Chaplain Bill...

most of us involved one way or another in Florida short track racing have met and known Bill & Erika for a long time. Bill goes from track to track and prays with and for every single driver. They have gone without to help others in need. Times are so tough for them . They struggle every month to pay their bills and they never ever complain. In fact they thank God every day they have a roof over their heads and food in their stomachs. many times tracks will call Bill and ask him to sing the National Anthem and say a prayer... he does this at his own expense and it takes what little they have to do this. sometimes the tracks put out a jug for donations and Bill will get ONE DOLLAR!... how sad...
Bill approaches every single driver and prays with them. He has given all of them a racers prayer to keep in their race cars. he has gone to their homes, to hospitals... you name it. He has been there for all of us and his faith is unshakeable... un bendable and strengthened thru a strong faith and love of God... also by his love for us.
Bill has not always been the sweet Godly man you know today. He has had a troubled past and thank God, he has found his way and become the man we know today. He knows what its like to struggle. not only monetarily but mentally, physically, and emotionally... he understands us and he does not judge. He has committed to helping others. Spiritually and in many other ways.
PLEASE... when Chaplain Bill is at your track, please make sure he is compensated for his gas money... he doesnt ask for anything else and the only reason he even mentions this is because he will not be able to travel as gas is so expensive. if every driver donates one single dollar to Bill, it will pay for his expenses. Bill would do all of this free but he cant anymore. and with this accident, things will be even tougher.
We have our differences on this board... we argue and sometimes even get really cruel, but when it comes to suffering we all seem to put the animosity aside and lend helping hands.... so please put that all aside and think only of this wonderful man and his loving wife. they are one of our links to God and they are our friends no matter how we act. they are loving, kind, decent people and thats the reason for this post.
anyone who knows the Rosses love them but few know of their struggles...few know of their sacrifices....a tank of gas is a small price to pay for what they do for us...
        thank you for listening.

Bill Ross has become a great friend to me, and a great help to our racing community. I've told Bill more than once, if I ever needed spiritual guidance, he would be the very first person I would turn to. I've always felt I could talk to him as a friend, and not be judged by my religeous beliefs... which is the true measure of a good person... being a compassionate and caring person to ALL, not just the people who believes as he does.

For any of you that have not had the pleasure of meeting this man, you are missing out on one of the truly great ones!

Bill... you are in my thoughts nearly every day as it is, and especially now when you need the support, thoughts and prayers of your friends. Somehow, I just know that you will find strength through this tragedy, and continue the selfless work you do to help others.

Please know that we are behind you, and will do anything we can to help if we are needed.

                Update....

Bill is going to the Dr. at noon. the pinky on his right hand has been pretty much lost..they are going to decide whether or not to completely remove it. also the next two fingers they plan to completely remove the tips. (one already pretty much lost to the saw)... he feels they may be prolonging the inevitable and just wants it DONE... he is in alot of pain.
i told him about your wonderful responses and he is going to read them... we both cried.... please keep the well wishes going. its his inspiration ! ;-) one thing we surely agree on... KYLE BUSCH's butt needs to meet a cat of nine tails! hahaha a good laugh is great therapy...

An unforgetable Chaplin Bill image... He does stellar renditions of both the Canadian and US national anthems every night at the New Smyrna World Series. He has no accompanyment, and just uses his own voice and spirit. Its really neat! No matter how tired or cold I am, I always have to stop and enjoy Chaplin Bill's singing. I know the fans and racers appreciate it too, even if they are too cold to clap!

So Bill, to paraphrase a wise man I once heard, I hope it is YOUR highway that is now lined with angels, and that you will return to full health and good voice ASAP!

PS: have 'em cut the pinky off. You'll heal faster.
