  • Ocala Runs Mini Stocks

Ocala runs mini stock approx. three Fridays a month. There are many reasons to try your mini stock on the dirt.

    Older cars can be competive
Tires last ALL YEAR and stay fast
    Not that many cars currently
It will be the most fun you will ever have with your car.
Rules alow almost any mini stock to run
2300 lbs and track tires all other rules are flexible
Pratice starts at 7:00 and racing at 8:00
It costs alot less money to run well on the dirt compaired to pavement
One last thing this will be the most fun you will ever have with your mini stock.....................................
    Just give it a try....

An interesting story about mini stocks... Pavement specialist Jarad Allison recently took his family's FASCAR mini stock to Volusia. This is a top line pavement car that has won many races. Jarad is an accomplished driver too, and has won a bunch of SLM and OWM races. However, neither the car nor the driver had ever been on dirt.

So he goes to VSP and is plagued with rain. He had no practice and no heat, and his first ever lap on dirt was the first lap of the feature. I think he finished 4'th and was within sight of the leaders.

Here is the moral of the story: racecars are for racing. There is no reason why stock based cars cannot run on both surfaces and be at least competitive. Dirt tires are important, but the rest is just fine tuning. I've done it with the same car (I ran mid-pack and was not in contention for a win), but it was fun and made me a better driver.

    Try it!

      More information

Gear ratios Dodges 6.34 Fords 6.42 turns 7400 6.60 turns 7700 you do not need 8000 rps as it does not help on the dirt.
Pay out is in full regardless of the number of cars.
It is easier to get the car to handle well.
If you have questions ask in a post.
