The fun and excitement are just 23 days away.Should prove to be a very interesting day at Columbia.There are lots of big names on our list.LeRoy Porter ,Dickie ,Butch,Jim and many many more.Lots of things going to happen on this date.Looking forward to it for sure.We have 65 drivers committed and would like to see at least 100.I can already smell Fred Mileys grill cooking that chicken....Remember this a for the Ronald McDonald House of Gainesville so please call and confirm your coming.

Joyce, I spoke to Harvey Johnson this morning and he liked the idea of this race. He is "WELL" over 60 and actively drives a legend car. Said if he can race his car, he's coming.

General Admission Front Gate $10.00 per person
Pit Gate Admission $25.00 per person includes meal .
Motel stay @ Motel 8 for $45.00 anight (
Motel at exit 423 .You can sleep as many as you can fit in the room they said for one price.

If you are asking all the drivers to go to the pits, how are the people in the stands supposed to see/intermingle with the Legends?

I don't give 2 sheets about seeing them drive, I wanna hear them tell wild stories and outright lies!

I have them going to the pits so I know who is there and I can feed them there will story telling under the big tent and autographs and the drivers will come into the grandstands and mingle with the fans and after they race the pits will be opened up to everyone. I think I said this correctly.I know that drivers will give everyone a chance to see them and talk to them.I am working on the schudule of events and will post it as soon as it is finished so everyone knows times for each event.

Newest entries are: Casey Jones + five old racing friends, Al Varnadore, Harvey Johnson. Casey is bringing a replica of a Harvey Jones car. We will also have the #15 Michael Waltrip ride along car and also the Penzoil #29 ride along car. There will be rides for fans. Ronald McDonald will be here from 1 - 3 PM to see the kids and the big kids. This is turning into a great day of racing...one to be remembered.

Got a call last night from Cooly Hoppy(hope I got that right)He is bringing 15 drivers from the south georgia area .He has raced at Columbia before and we are now up to 87 .I was hoping for 100 and it looks like we just might get that and more.Remember everyone is welcome.I will be posting more as they come in.Looking forward to a great day....

Just wanted to thank all of you that have been sending names, numbers and pictures of our older (mature) racers. I thank Mrs. Joyce Lankford for all the hard work that she is doing for this reunion. Yes, I realize that vintage racing is a great sport. I have been bitten by the bug and I guess that is why we are calling this the 1st Annual...I'd love to see these mature racers (I use that term lightly) get at least one race every year under their belt. It will keep them young and maybe healthy, cause they have to fit in the car. I know that we will hear some wild bench racing stories and see some great cars and action. Thanks to all of you for your interest.

We are now at 89 drivers for our race we only need 11 more to reach the gold that I was hoping for ,so reach in and find some more names and phone numbers.There has been a change in our pace car driver position ,Benny Stevenson had to cancel so Mr.Stan Butler will take over that position.Also let us all keep Chaplin Bill Ross in our prayers he had and accident that might keep him away,with all our prayers maybe he will make it to our event.Thanks to you all for helping make it all come together,Joyce
