NEW SMYRNA SPEEDWAY / ORLANDO SPEEDWORLD - CHANGES

    >> HEAT RACES (Effective Immediately) Applies to BOTH New Smyrna Speedway and Orlando Speedworld

If a division has 16 cars or more, they will run Heat Races. Points and Money will be the same as in previous years.

Heat Race lineup will be by pill draw with Points Leader and most recent winner starting at the rear of their Heat Race. All other lineup rules apply.

Heat Race finish will determine Feature Lineup as follows:
Heat Race 1 Finish = Inside Row of Feature
Heat Race 2 Finish = Outside Row of Feature

The Winner of Heat Race #1 will draw for an inversion up to half the field.

This does not apply to Special Races. All 50, 75, 100, etc. lap races will still be done through qualifying.

    >> ADDITIONS TO THE NEW SMYRNA SPEEDWAY SCHEDULE

Beginning August 29, 2009, we are adding Divisions to the regular schedule. Because of these additional races, Modifieds, Sportsman, Pro-Trucks and Mini-Stocks will be allowed to drop (1) one points race from your final total. Dropped race MUST be from 8/29 thru the end of the 2009 points season.

The following Divisions have been added to the following dates:

    • August 29, 2009 - Sportsman
    • September 5, 2009 - Mini-Stocks
    • September 12, 2009 - Modifieds / Sportsman
    • September 19, 2009 - Mini-Stocks
    • September 26, 2009 - Sportsman
    • October 3, 2009 - Taylor Racing Products Pro-Trucks
    • October 10, 2009 - Sportsman
    • October 17, 2009 - Mini-Stocks
    • October 31, 2009 - Taylor Racing Products Pro-Trucks
    • November 14, 2009 - Modifieds

Orlando really needed heat races. with the difficulty making it too the track after work for most people on a Friday, the heat race is the only opportunity they have to shake the car out.

Does this mean the Feature races will go back to their original laps as before the heat races were dropped? 15 laps for a Modified feature is too short for Orlando.

Umm, the post says classes with 16 or more cars will run heat races...........Does any of the classes have 16 cars?

Not trying to be a glass half empty kind of guy, just a question.

I will be in the Orlando area fri night and may be interested in seeing the show.

That is just what I thought Benny, my guess is that nothing will change. I don't think there has been a class with 16 cars all year, unless it has been a special event.

I have to agree with both of you, not one class except maybe a special has had that many cars. Why not have heat races if they have 10 or more cars?

I think 12 is a more reasonable number right now... Other than special races, I don't thing any class has had 16 cars in it all year... In fact, just 14 Mini Stocks and 13 Strictly Stocks have raced at OSW ALL YEAR! 17 Legends have raced... A pair of 6 car heats would be OK I think... Just have to get 12 cars... then maybe shoot for 16 later...

I suggest a single heat of 10-12. There is no need to split the field if there is only 12.
