  • OSW Rained Out

Due to heavy rain throughout the week and more today, tonight's racing at Orlando Speedworld has been canceled.

We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to seeing everyone next Friday - August 7th for 50's/60's Night presented by AutoZone, featuring $5.00 General Admission and a Costume Contest.

    Quoting Rusty Marcus: "AArrrrggggghhhhhhh!!"

Why isn't that track getting fixed? Obviously the "hoping for a drought" method of track operation is not working. How many nights have we lost to a seeping track in 2009? 4? 5?

Is there any plan to try something?

I still don't think its as many nights that we lost last year at this time. If it cost too much to fix, why don't they change the schedule around to avoid the rainy season? Makes too much sense not to try it. Better weather, snow birds looking for things to do less racers on summer vacations and less competition from other tracks. I just don't get it.

It's not the point of fixing it, but it is raining now as I type this with more on the way according to the weather reports.

There is discussions and looking into ways to possibly fix the problem !

There is discussions, and there is thought going into affordable ways to try to fix the problem. We understand it is an issue, but it is also a very expensive fix. The schedule thing is also something that has been discussed as well. We do apologize for having to cancel, but the seeping or weeping will not be the only reason to call them. It is about to let loose about everywhere around here as it builds. Florida summer time weather is am issue and we are trying to make the best decisions as early as possible and to keep all safe.

          Thanks !

Why not take the summer months off? Go from Sept. to May. And this is for all tracks.

                      OSW Rainouts--

So far in 2009, in 21 Fiday night cards, 8 nights have been washouts, from what I can see.

                      May 1, 22. 29,
                      June 5, 26,
                      July 10, 24, 31,

This is probably more than last years at this time, I think.

no, i'm saying that their refusal to schedule around the rainy season is my fault.

oh, okay. the rain is my fault too. Ed was teaching me some heap big mojo rain ceremonies and i was trying out my headdress and native American syncopation.
