Couldn't make it up last sat. How many mods showed up? Also, what tire are y'all using for sportsman cars these days? Thanks, John

Nope, the results are'nt wrong. For the 50 lap mod. race they had 3 cars show up. They also had a 50 lap set for the pure stocks and had 4 of them show up. That goes along with 2 hornets, 3 bombers and 8 sportsmen. Pretty sad state of affairs at Columbia. Don't know that they will be able to come back from the damage that has been done there. It is a really great place to race, it just really needs better management. Joyce, you are doing a great job trying to promote the track. They should make you the track manager and get Don out of it altogether. Maybe it would still have a chance. Food for thought-- Stop playing favorites ( and ya'll know exactly who I mean), if it's illegal admit it's illegal (22) and fix it, Make sure payout checks are good, and for crying out loud, GET RID of the cart track in the pits! But hey, at least ya'll did change the flagman. Gotta start somewhere. Best of luck.Randy Alldredge

I only am doing a job a job that I love .I am doing what I can do to help. Racing is about love of compettetion and going fast and putting forth your best effort.I don't race but,I love the sport. You all know you can come to me and talk to me and I will take it to Don and tell him your thoughts on issues.
If you have issues talk about them ,lets see what we can do to make our track the place to be.It is suppose to be fun and put excitement in your day ,My job is to really the not what you all seem to think .I am the media marketing account manager.( I sell advertising) I have promoted the track because I love our track.I work in the office everyday not because I have to but, because I want to ,I want it to be a place people want to come and have fun.Don and Sandy have given everything to this track and I love them both ,they are really great people and I love working for them and doing what ever it is I can to help them.Fell free to voice your opinions I look forward to reading them .You all no my phone number you can call me .Thanks,JoyceLast edited by northfloridajoyce; 07-21-2009, 09:21 AM.

Joyce,
It is very important that you love what you are doing and the people you are working for. Don and Sandy both are good people however everyone has their own opinions which is what the world goes around on but they are both good people. Don cares alot about racing and knows if you don't support your local track, it may not be there tomorrow.
For many years, I loved Orlando SpeedWorld and New Smyrna Speedway and gave them all of me and more. You have that same love for Columbia and I am glad to see that. It is very important that you love what you do and know it is appreciated and noticed. I have written for numerous websites over the years and that was the one thing that always shined thru, my love for racing and those racers at those tracks. I have countless letters I have saved over the years thanking me for bringing Orlando and New Smyrna to life in words and I will always treasure them.
Now I work for Volusia and love it. I admit I don't know these drivers like the ones I did at Orlando and New Smyrna but I am getting to know them. And funny, I see alot of those drivers at Volusia from time to time. But the one thing today you need to have to make any track work is a love for racing and that track. You have that and so does Sandy and Don. People can say whatever, but they do care and always have.
So keep up your good work Joyce and hopefully I will see you August 30 for the old timer's race and bbq.
Jane

The love fest has sort of thrown this thread off a little . The real purpose of this thread i think is to find out why more cars didn't show up , especially for the modified race . Mr Abney , i thought you were planning to go . Where were the drivers who ran the mods there last month ?

Not to be rude but because I mentioned your name in my post, does not make it about you. As I said, you are doing the best you can for Columbia. And Jane is right. We do all have an opinion but it seems as though alot have the the same opinion as mine. Hence the low car count. Noone ever said the Nerones are bad people. I can't say that I have ever met Sandy. I have met Don numerous times and he is great to B.S. with. But I have also been there when a driver came to him with a problem and either got blown off or laughed at. Real nice way to relate to your drivers. I don't want to see the track go under, but until Don himself starts to take care of problems and concerns of ALL the drivers, the track will continue to roll downhill. Nobody wants to go through a middleman to try to get something done when they have already been to the head man. Whats the point. Go back and read my original post and try to deal with those issues.Last edited by Joker139; 07-21-2009, 11:30 AM.Randy Alldredge

It is sad i thought things were bad when Bert had the place. I don't know Don but have met him once and i will say he gives a very bad first impression he reminds me a lot of the Hills. If you don't like things take a flying leap and if your in his in group then you get what ever you want. There's lots of problems i see, theres a few pure stocks that are really sportmans that class has got way out of hand. It's funny when the v-8 bombers weren't running for money there was 10 plus now that there's money up for grabs there's less.
When they put the walls up i thought that was great no more waiting for the tow truck to go get the cars wrong with the walls and the track not getting blowed off a lot of cars have been trashed.
PS: i will put my one vote in now to change the tracks name to Gainey
Speedway.

CMP definitely needs some tender loving care right now and I really would love to see the place succeed.Hopefully Joyce and others will keep busting their butts trying to make the track better. It is a nice place to watch a race but they need more cars.It is not going to be a simple fix but I hope they can breathe some life into it before its too late.

Never thought your post was about me and I agree with you and I wasn't trying to make it about me.I want Columbia to be sucessful thats all. Nothing more nothing less.It is hard to try to make a difference and when you make changes someone else whines about something else.Nothing is ever going to be prefect anywhere you race.I am not trying to be the middle man was only trying to help.I thought maybe by trying to help our drivers might come back.Maybe I don't know and I do care so what should I do keep my mouth shut and let people keep bashing the track ? I think not I think someone has to stand up and ask these drivers to give another shot and if they do well thats a good thing.I can certainly say I have only tried to help resolve some of the problems that I hear daily from phone calls.Maybe I am right maybe I am wrong but,at least I care and I try.

Useless!!
you know what Joyce? I'm not gonna continue this. I was gonna write a response but you'll just continue to sidestep my ORIGINAL post! Thats the stuff everyone wants to know about. But ya'll don't want to discuss things on an open forum. So I'll let this alone for now. You just keep doing what you do(sell advertising, not solving problems) and Don will keep running Gainey Speedway the way he sees fit. We'll just sit back and watch what happens---from a distance!!Randy Alldredge

I reread your original post...what's this about making payout CHECKS good? They don't pay cash anymore? Should I check out the SGMP rule book instead? I hope the promoter will let me race there. Our last "meeting" didn't go too well! LOL! Damn, and I only live 10 miles from CMP...bummersville.sigpic
