  • Columbia Motorsports Park Modified 50

Well, as usual I see that 227 miles down south we have a Modified 50 scheduled. Golly Bobby, I guess that you and I should get together on our scheduling. I schedule something and you go right behind me and schedule too! Oh well as you say there is 227 miles between tracks and that shouldn't interfer. The one thing I will say is I want to save the North Florida track, I don't want anymore Florida tracks going bye-bye. So I will invite all divisions to this track and give them a very warm Southern greeting!! So come one and come all...it is a really neat track and the people here are nice and the food is great! Thanks, Sandy Nerone

230 miles is a long way, up to 4 hours the way some folks drive -- not many race folks drive like that. Speaking as Joe Van Fan here, what's the big deal of having two modified races in the same state on the same night? No one is driving 230 miles one way or the other to see that modified race. I'd imagine that no sensible person is driving more than 100 miles to see it.

From a business standpoint, and this is gonna get unpopular real quick, but why does every track want every other track to do well? That's bad business. Wouldn't tracks nearby benefit if one of its competitors took a digger?

If I were running Ocala Speedway for example, my first goal would be to do everything so well that I attract every dirt driver and fan from Volusia and Putnam County and even Lake City. Maybe I should stay out of the race track business.

If any sensible person wants to see the majority of the best modifieds in the state , they wouldn't have much choice but to drive to Columbia . The last time Don and Bobby ran against each other , the results page showed the top cars and drivers almost all showed up at Columbia .

9 cars on a half mile track does not sound like a very good race to me.

Nor does it to me ,, but it would depend a lot on which 9 cars . And i haven't seen a list of entrants yet so there may be more than 9 cars .

instead of bad mouthing race tracks be glad they are there

to give the one's that want to race , a choice to were we want to go here is who were at columbia speedway robbie cooper - jason garver -wayne rocket man jefferson -jerrysymons -robert deal- richie smith allan bruns with two cars jf mclellan - ron abney and orlando had a race friday night lot cars got tore up and there probably would have been more if not for that

but one thing about it when the open wheel modifieds came out of turns three and four and they droped the green you knew you were watching the fastest best open wheel any were

when they drive off in corner at columbia they are rockin you don't hear that sound at small tracks

that might be why there was not as many cars there also

instead of bad mouthing an owner thank him for giving you a place and a choice and if you don't want to go don't go and if you're scared to race at bigger track don't go have nice day i did at columbia county speedway

next time we go back we will take our gears with us so we can turn more rpm's all open wheels should go there at least once nice place lot of fun

Does this thread have a purpose?

Why can't promoters spend their time promoting their own tracks, instead of worrying about what another track is doing that is over 200 miles away?

forgot to mention, it's my fault that Bobby Diehl is scheduled in on top of Columbia.

i called him back in January and told him to do it.
