  • Want to see some vintage sprint car photos?

Thanks to the generosity of Gene Marderness, we now have some great photos from 1978 posted on our website. Simply head on over to http://www.FloridaSprintCarFans.com and look in the header for Photo Gallery and drop down to Vintage Photos.

Then you can see gems like Jan Opperman at Golden Gate, the original Larry Brazil, Stan Butler at the East Bay Nationals, and the front row at the 1978 Florida 500 at Golden Gate.

    Enjoy!

Almost forgot - we've also got some of Gene's handiwork from Reading and Flemington from 1978 in there as well. Some amazing stuff!

      Well don't forget floridaracinghistory.com......
Shots by Gene, myself and many others from Plant Field, the New Tampa Fairground, Golden Gate, Sunshine, East Bay, Desoto, Lake City, Miami-Hollywood, Palm Beach etc. etc.
Brazil's George Rudolph #68 was the former Bob Luscomb #5 car which Larry won the GG track championship with... I think that's Jerry Carman with Robert Smith, Larry Brazil and Rocky Fisher... Those two Florida 500's were fantastic and both were won by Don Mack in Doug Howell's #4 (shown here)...
Took one of my favorite photos of Opperman at this race...

It was a big deal when the TBARA would have a special race at Orlando Speedworld when I was a kid. I loved going. Seeing guys like Scarborough, Childers, Riddle, Hartley & Brazil.

Jack, great work with the website...Dave I love the Opperman photo. Foyt always said Opperman was one of the greatest drivers he ever saw!
