1st--The last Yellow set the big wreck up.$ and TV ratings are more important than the lives of the drivers
2nd--DIS did a hell of a poor job controlling the fans, they were all lined up along the fence 500 yards before and past the line.Yes it ones choice,But
    not very smart.
3rd--2 races at the end having servere wrecks.Bush almost went upside down roof into the wall at 180mph not good
    just my 2 cents

What did the last yellow have to do with TV rating? There is almost always a big one at the end, in or near the finish line or turn 4 .

      Was anybody there? (karnac wise)
Strange to see the entire backstretch stands closed down.

Yes it was funny wasn't it? I saw a story this week on tv about the lack of fans in the pits and garage area. And how they panited the seat different colors on the front side. So the tv viewers wouldn't pick up on the lack of fans.

When NASCAR decided to award post chase bonus points for WINS ONLY instead of points position, that prophesied last lap wrecks.

Kyle did what he was supposed to do. Since he is fairly well in the chase, his orders are the same as everyone elses up there - "Win it or wreck it."

I was there covering it from the press box. The next-to-last yellow was for "debris," but I never saw any of the work crews go out and pick anything up. Not even a jet dryer.

            Crowd was probably about 80,000.

ain't busch fan but glad he is ok

me i don't like double file restarts but it doe's add a little more excitement when some one gets killed or a car gets in stands then they will quit it

if 18 - and 11 are team mates they could have hooked up and got by stewart jimmy johnson hung 11 out to dry hoping 18 and 14 would get together and he could drive by them can't believe 18 got by tony when he did ,

but tony had his hands full when jimmy was pushing him back up behind 18 tony wanted to get to left rear of 18 and get him loose and drive under him

johnson was hoping 18-14 would wreck each other and he could drive by and win but i can't even believe at 180 miles and hour any body has a set of ----- to make a hard right turn to block a car that is that far up on you

guess that's why they make the big bucks

The last yellow bunch up the feild. It would have been interesting with no yellow. The tires were on there longest run of the night.Yes they were single file, sort of boring, thus the yellow flag for tv ratings?leading to more $$$$?
posible cost to someone getting hurt.

Per the folks I spoke to, that was a TIRE CAUTION. The Bad Years where about to go away so they decided to have the famous "Commercial Time" caution.
I guess that the fact you could get tickets as late as Last Wednesday for the weekend was a give away as far as who has had enough of REAL HIGH PRICES for races.
Got my tickets for Bristol Modified race and I think the delivery truck series is running also. Sorry never was much for fender cars. Like to see those idiots bump and bang with modifieds, they would but ONLY ONCE.

That wreck reminded me of Talladega the time Rusty tried to block the 3 car. Rusty ended up doing somersaults down the track.

that's not what happened, watch another replay.

Hamlin gave Busch a push but when they made the move to the higher lane Hamlin got loose and had to back out of the throttle or he was going to smack the wall coming up on the straight. that's when Tony jumped in between the two of them ( this was actually a really dangerous move on Tony's part and was probably less than 24" from turning himself into the wall on Hamlin's nose ) and got them split up. after the lead pack had the two Gibb's cars split, nobody else was going to go high and give Hamlin any help.

Johnson didn't have anything to do with it except he sucked up to Tony when Tony followed Busch back down into the lower groove.

it's the same move that got Senior killed.

it's the same move that got Edwards in the fence at Talladega this year.

listening to Stewart and Edwards after the race, i think it's starting to sink in with a lot of these guys that they need to stop pulling this crap. yeah, spotter racing is spotter racing but they are cutting things way too fine.

the sorry thing is that if Busch hadn't made that swerve he would have finished 2nd, maybe 3rd at worst with a car that wouldn't have had hardly a mark on it and he would have had a pretty good shot at the win.

instead, he's totaled out and has a 14th.

i agree, NASCAR is crap for crowd control though. gosh, the last super speedway race we almost put a car through the fence and ten rows up in the grandstands. let's let everybody fill the whole concourse between the fence and the seats, that's a GREAT idea.

Per the folks I spoke to, that was a TIRE CAUTION.

                      "Tire Caution", "Debris Caution", whatever.

it was a "Competition Caution" to bunch the field for an "exciting finish".

But Todd - 2nd or 14th is the same thing to Kyle now. He's in the chase. He needs WINS.

I HATE that part of the chase format. I do not believe that chase bonus points should be awarded for wins only.

Kyle did his job - win it or wreck it. He is a product of the rules.

yeah, and he had a good shot at the win if he had NOT thrown the block. Tony would have had to climb the hill and Kyle could have crowded him ( also useful for pulling a side draft if Tony gets a little in front ) up even further if he wanted too. also, i'm not sure who Johnson was going to follow.

the only way he wins with the block is if Tony backs out. and that's not going to happen on the last corner of the last lap of the race. you can ( usually ) get away with that stuff in the earlier stages of the race. last three laps? you're taking your life in your hands.

There's a lot about the chase format that I don't like. (I personally feel a championship should be determined by the years results.) However, I like the idea of getting points for wins. I use to hate to see drivers settle for second or third when they might have been able to win. I also like the double file restarts. Daytona, Talledega, and the road courses are exceptions, but we use to have double file restarts before, but it was the lap down cars inside. Now it's lead lap cars. The tracks I mentioned above don't usually have many lap down cars so they are different. Now throwing the yellow flag to bunch things up is not acceptable. You know there's going to be a wreck. I don't believe it was for tires because no one pitted. I wasn't there to see if there was debris.
BTW, I really feel for David Reutimann. Again he had a good car and was coming up through the field and got involved in something he had no control over. Even after the first wreck the car was good but the wheels weren't aligned and caused the flat that sent him in the wall. I'm hoping his luck changes and he gets in the top 12.
