  • How do the gears compare? NSS vs. CMP

I am taking a mini stock to Columbia Motorsports Park in July. I plan on taking my gear for New Smyrna. That should be pretty close, right? Is Columbia rounder while New Smyrna is more like a paperclip?

You should be O.K with your NSS gear. Maybe 300 or 400 rpm's less at CMP. Columbia's straights and turns are shorter and are not banked as much. I ran a 5.29 at CMP and a 5.14 at NSS in my sportsman/streetstock. Hope this helps!

          Hi Ron,
I'll be sure to bring an extra set of ka hons! Its hard to imagine CMP being a lot faster than NSS, but of course I keep my eyes closed most of the time up there anyway.
There is a big red neck bar-b-que going on at Volusia this week, and I am heading up there, so I'll miss you at Auburndale, but do look forward to meeting you one day.

Edm, at least my half an engine has a winning record. You are bringing your Sportsman to CMP too, right? That will be a good road trip, assuming we can ever get you-know-who out of the Cafe Risque.

Todd doesnt count as an extra set. And I guess if I was to cheat up my motor I might get a win too. I hear that Cafe has good food......gross!

Bone, NSS IS much faster. Only negative at CMP is it is pretty narrow since they put up concrete barriers all the way around. Alot of cars have been ruined...

at least that way, the motor would match the rest of the car.

Why does everone aways want to run so many RPM's I have run my v-8 bomber at CMP and other tracks and run good and only turn 3,000 to 4,000 RPM's

Only negative at CMP is it is pretty narrow since they put up concrete barriers all the way around. Alot of cars have been ruined...

true and it doesn't help that they don't blow the dirt off the top of the track.
