frankly, i can't believe that a NASCAR track has a pit entrance that poorly designed.

that was a horrible wreck but im pretty sure Carlos didnt feel anything. it was fast... scares the hell out of me... it can happen at any time. i hope i never see anything like that.. i feel sad for his family. a close friend of mine had a son who was an NHRA racer in new England. on friday he was told his cancer was in remission. on saturday he was killed in a horrible wreck in front of his wife and children in a race at the dragway.... i believe he is honored in the museum. he was a wonderful kid, good son, great husband and father... i wonder why sometimes that good people die and pond scum are allowed to live... but it isnt up to me... ;-(

That was going to be a hard wreck no matter what, but it could have been survivable if not for that blatent flaw in track design. Somebody should have caught the danger of that wall.
If this were the 1960's or so, i could see where someone may not have thought much about that setup, but jeezus that was absolutely unneccesary. Whoever designed that should be out of business.
I agree with all above that it never should’ve happened but noticed one more difference that doesn’t set well, at least with me anyway.
Is it just me or is anyone else seeing the insensitivity of Mexican Broadcast TV hanging in there continuing to roll tape well after the EMR’s are on-scene and know damn well his condition.
I know that American Broadcast TV does not do that for obvious reasons when there is any chance of the driver sustaining life-changing or life-threatening injuries. The most you’ll see on American TV is the dreaded blue tarp covering the vehicle (in the case of fatality) which would be bad enough on family members let alone them seeing their loved one still sitting there with his helmet on all that time while they’re trying to extricate him from the vehicle.

figured out why the track was like that. sheer laziness.
he didn't hit a pit entrance wall, he hit turn 12 for the road course layout. they didn't bother to completely block off the turn in for that turn or to remove the jersey barriers from that section of the track.
i'm betting every other road course turn in on the track was the same way.
