That storm, after hitting Lake City, went on to cancel Putnam and Volusia. We even got a bit of it at Bronson and the racin' was called about 6:15pm or so.

It missed Citrus though. They had their regular program and a good car count.

RIP Jack Smith and Kim Brown. Many thanks for all you have done for our sport.

Yes it rained hard right before race time. We had a good car count and time at North Florida Speedway

Yeah, Citrus got lucky with the weather and had some good racing. But, for some reason, I was as wet as I would have been if it had rained.

If Columbia got hit like Volusia did, they really got it. Just as I got to Volusia from Merritt Island, the bottom dropped out and I do mean dropped out. The track had no power and it was pouring. Went back to Merritt Island and found out the storm had also been here. Not a great night for racing but was a great night for shrimping. The rain made the "big" ones come out so I got shrimp for mom and dad instead.

We don't like raining out races. It seems to be a weekly thing in Lake City. Hopefully this week will be different for the Modifieds and Hornets. We did reschedule the Sportsman 50 for 6/27, we had a good field of Sportsman started Saturday night. It would of been a good race.

I like the idea i 'm seeing of tracks running on Sunday after being rained out the night before . Seems like a plan B for rainouts would have been better developed over the years , especially in Florida . For special shows with out of town racers work a trade out with local motels so racers could stay Saturday night at a very reduced rate in exchange for free advertising for the motel at the track . Maybe same thing at the local eateries . Some racers and fans can't stay for whatever reason , but the ones who can , and the local fans who are willing to come back the next day at least get to see a race . Some income for tracks and racers instead of just calling a rainout and everyone including the track leaving with nothing .
