Just got back from Auburndale Raceway, and another fine night it was.
Sprint cars, and a half dzon of other classes raced all night long.
Heat races started at 6:30 PM, with about 13 of them, and Feature races started at about 8:14 PM.
Neat to see the sprints on the tight 1/4 miler, a tad bit shy on counts as Putnam and Charlotte were running them too. But they put on a good Feature race nonetheless.
I hadn't been to Auburndale in 13 years, but have visited them 3 times in the last month, and I think that I have found my new Sat. night asphalt racing go-to Raceway. It only takes me 1 hour and 5 min. to go from my driveway to theirs. And in 3 weeks of racing, I have found my new home.
This Auburndale Raceway is a very nice facility all around, folks. I kid you not. It is a tight 1/4 miler, freshly painted, great PA, big grandstands, and low admission fees, even on a "special" show. It is what is left of the old Sunshine Speedway in St. Pete.-----Sunshine Speedway still lives here, boys and girls, and it's nice to see it again.
And a special thanks goes to Colleen, who invited us there for a special night. Also saw AncrDave below, couldn't catch up with him to say hi., he moves quickly. The food is great, the Raceway employees are the best, salt of the earth, the owner is quick on his feet, and fan friendly, and the Restrooms are the cleanest and most sanitary facilities I have ever visited, and I'm not kidding about that. Was trying to locate Carol Andrews, to go by and say hi to her, but maybe nextime.
Check out Auburndale Speedway in the near future, as Mr. Rex Guy and his team have this facility absolutely rocking and rolling with a completely full night of racing action.
