  • Important News From Charlotte County Ms Park !!!!

The track is going to start racing at 5:00 instead of 6:00 ... there is a curfew of 11:30 and they are trying this to see if it helps. if it changes i will post on here as i know some of you travel a long way and need to know.
    Thank you.,...

Since Bobby tries alot of different things... Why not start racing Saturdays at 10AM... Pit gate opens at 7 - practice 8-9:30... No qualifying for anything other than a race of 150 laps or more... Travel in the morning would be cooler and it would be cooler setting up in the pits... Concession stand could start off serving breakfast then move to the regular fare about 11:30... Races over before the rain... Fans have time to spend with their families or do other activities later in the day/evening... If you have to work, just call in sick (after 4-5 weeks in a row, the boss might catch on so just invite him/her to the races)... No curfew unless you have a realllly sloooow program!

There was nothing wrong with starting at 6:00 like it is right now, except for the fact that you ran 9 divisions and you had 6 blown motors. This is a knee jerk reaction to a once in a life time event, don't miss with the start time.

          Too early...

I have to agree with wre11 on this. For those of us who come over from the East coast the earlier start may make it where we may not come over because we work late that day.
Plus, from what I saw this weekend a big difference would be to line up the cars when the interviews are going on, that way you don't have to waste another 5 minutes every race lining them up. That and cut down on the interview time, this aint NASCAR.
I also agree that there are too many races trying to be squeezed in. You knew there was a 100 lapper and the last time there was a 100 lapper it was close to an hour just to run that race alone. Then you add a 50 lapper, and 7 more classes with 2 heat races, that is a lot to try to squeeze in a 3 hour window. Knock it down to no more then 5 classes total for a night and then you wont have to worry about a curfew.

          Just my thoughts...

Carol, I agree with this post. It's been talked about on here before! LESS CLASSES. Come on Bobby 150 laps between just two classes? That's a lot of time even with no yellow flags, spin outs or blown motors. Then knowingly add 7 other classes? Give it up. Even 9 classes with just 20 to 25 laps each is alot. And is there an intermission in this also? Last weekend it was the Sportsmen who had to wait to be the last race. And then get called because of no more time. That blows! You don't need more time. You need less racing classes per show.

              i agree...

i think the races should remain at 6 P.M. and give the drivers some time off. too many classes every week. we can save some time by shortening the amount of time it takes for all the interviews and picture taking. we interview top 3 and take their pics... should just be the winner. that would save about 1.5 hours alone.
but..........i dont own the track and i dont have to pay the bills... bobby and gary try the things we suggest. some of them work and some dont. but at least they try. you can never please everyone.

This is not a rip on the track, just an example of what was done in the past somewhere else. Hialeah didn't even open until 4:00, and practice started at about 4:30. Heats or the first feature started at about 7:00, and if they didn't have a rain delay or a lot of unforseen issues, had the races over by about 10:30 or 11:00. Now, they didn't have a curfew, so if it ran long, it wasn't an "End of the world" thing, which I know is something they have to be mindful of. The last night ever at Hialeah had a rain delay and went to almost 3:00 am, and I didn't get home until 5:00 am. Some of the things that helped keep things moving was only interviewing the winner, but on longer races they did do top 3 because it was a longer race. Also, they had the next race lined up on the back, in position, ready to go while the race was about to end. The winner was talking and we pulled on the track in turn four, in place, ready to go. He pulled away, we followed him in to one and he pulled in to the infield. We had two or three laps to scrub-em, and then GREEN GREEN GREEN. Longer races got about 3 faster laps. Next, the average was 5 divisions, sometimes 6. Everyone got to see the whole night, and could get home before it was Sunday. Again, I am not saying the track is wrong to run 9 classes, because 9 is more for the fans. It is the time between that makes it run over, not just the number of classes. 9 is great, if you keep it moving. Finally, sometimes the yellows drag out too much, and they could clean up faster, but what happened last week was out of their control. You can't predict that many spills to clean up, so that can't be used as an example of an "average" night. That's all I have to say. I am just trying to help. I have a great time when I come over, and I know Bobby and the others will work on it. Like Carol said, you can't please everyone, but you don't want to hurt anyone either. An earlier start might not be what you need. A tighter package, and still get 9 races would be better.

                    5pm???

Is this new time for racing starting this weekend? Because I was planning to come out in the station van to join our Fort Myers sister station there for the parade lap and to watch the races/Charlie Daniels.

Wow this new time will make it even harder for us working folks who work Saturdays. Plus it means even more time sitting in the heat & humidty till the sun goes down. Not to mention showers and thunder storms.

Hope it works out for you Bobby & Gary.
