  • Car and Driver Article - Ocala Speedway

Just got my monthly advertisment known as Car and Driver (had to buy something from the kids fundraiser) and I found something other than biased vehicle reviews!

They had an pretty large and well written article on short track racing decline and specifically focused on Ocala Speedway. Nothing earth shattering, but it was good hear from the current owner and the things he has gone through. Also some commentary from Rich Pratt.

    Worth a read.

Jeez Louise, I decline my renewal of Car and Driver for $9.99 and then they go and actually publish an article I would find interesting.

That magazine has gone wayyyyyy downhill. All the good writers and editors are gone and it seems to be the same, "10 Cars to Wait For..." or cars I could never in my lifetime afford type of articles with hardly any real analysis. Last issue I received in the mail I literally scanned it for two minutes on the walk back from my mailbox and threw it in the recycling bin before it ever made it in the house.

I'll check out this issue at the library though.

Thanks for noticing guys. I haven't read it yet. Ocala Speedway was THE track they selected out of all the tracks in the country. They narrowed it down to a few then picked Ocala. The photographers shadowed me for the day on race day. Is it the June or July issue?

It is the July issue. Has a white cover.

They paint you as one of the few to "figure it out" these days and from the sounds of it, I would agree with the turnaround. Good job!

I read the article today . Well written and certainly interesting . I got a much better impression of why Mike is making Ocala a success . He uses the Earl Baltes approach , does a lot of the work himself . And i also got a strong feeling that Mike and Angie are doing this as much for the love of racing as they are to make money . I hope the former leads to the latter .

I finally found a copy at Barnes & Noble in The Villages, and the article is exceptional! Mike and Angie come off looking awesome, and the track looks fantastic. Even Rich Pratt has a nice portrait and some good quotes along with the article! If you haven't seen it yet, get a copy and check it out!

Congrats to Mike and Angie, and to Ocala Speedway too!
