You tell me Bobby isn't doing something right. Well over 100 cars in the pits and look at the late Model field. The race was a fantasic show. This was Scotts first win at CCMP and was he proud of it. All Bobbys large print and hype is paying off. Him and Gary are making a short track show not short of spectacular. The stands were full too. This was an excellent night of racing.

Yep, as a long-time resident of SW Florida, it's really great to see what is happening at CCMP. Last night was a hot, muggy night, yet by feature time, the stands were pretty packed. People can joke all they want about Bobby's methods. However, if other promoters would simply work as hard in their local communities, during the week, as Bobby, to attract NEW fans to the track, I think the same thing would be happening at the other tracks I race at. I heard radio commercials for last night's races, on TWO different stations yesterday. One was a Sports talk-radio show, and the other was a country western station. (I'm no expert on marketing, but it sure seems to make a lot of sense to market to those two groups...) Kudos also to Jason, who makes every race sound like it's the most exciting thing that's ever happened.

I also wanted to thank Bobby for paying MORE cash out last night in at least one of the lower divisions, than he had advertised. Thanks very much Bobby!

I want to give kudos to a young driver that raced in the late model race this past Saturday night, Barry Bartlett III, and also say HAPPY GRADUATION! (Barry just graduated from high school)

In today's world of wealthy parents funding first-class rides for their kids, Barry's story is a good one. After finishing 2nd in points for the Fascar Advanced Auto Parts Pro Truck points last year, Barry's family made the tough decision to sell the truck due to the economy. However, a man who had watched Barry race approached him. He had an older late model that had been parked for several years, and asked him if he might like to drive it in 2009. He didn't have to ask twice!

The car owner has NO spare parts for the car, and they have no sponsorship to help with any of the costs. The car still has the older style body on it. In his first four starts (ever) in a late model, all 100 laps at CCMP, Barry has finished on the lead lap in ALL FOUR races, with a best finish of seventh!!!!! Needless to say, the car owner is thrilled, and everyone who knows the Bartletts are pulling for Barry. He may not have the fastest equipment, but he is one of the smartest young racers out there. Great job Barry!

Barry indeed did a great job and brought it home in 1 piece! I must say, the current rules package at CCMP seems to really allow all types of cars to compete. I am pretty sure this season that running the combined style,Limited, ASA, and SLM have all won a race. They all run so close together and everyone seems to have a shot. Perhaps it's because of the track configuration. I can't see this working at larger tracks like New Smyrna or Bradenton where the Supers could just outmotor you, but it would probably work at A-Dale and Citrus also. You have to get all the power to the ground. Can't speak for any others, these are the only tracks I've been to. But is is sure making for great racing at CCMP. And correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure Bobby has the best payout in the state at $3K to win.
