CHRIS FONTAINE RECIEVES FEATHERLITE MOST IMPROVED DRIVER AWARD AT DOVER INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY!

NCWTS driver Chris Fontaine and the BDH Construction/FRAXA #84 race team finished their second race of the year at Dover International Speedway with a career best 14th place last Saturday.

Fontaine had qualified the #84 in the 26th spot on Friday before rain delayed the race until 6:00 pm Saturday.

"We started the race with the intention of finishing better then Martinsville. My crew’s diligent work at the shop and track helped us achieve this goal as a team ." Chris Fontaine said.

Fontaine started the race in the 25th position and worked his way up to 11th by lap 33. After multiple cautions and pit stops Fontaine was in 3rd place by lap 88. On lap 106 Fontaine stayed on the track and started the race in 1st place. When asked what it was like to lead the eighth NCWTS of his career, and only the second race for the Chris Fontaine Inc. team, Fontaine said, “It was fun. We were just trying to do the best we could with the tires we had, and we were able to hold our ground. It felt good knowing I had a truck and team behind me that was able to handle driving up front."

Fontaine was forced to pit on lap 183 during caution due to a flat tire.” The team put two right-side tires on, and got Fontaine back out. After returning to the track he was in 12th position. Fontaine said, “My crew was able to do a fast pit stop and get me back on the track maintaining the 13th position. This was outstanding work on their part.”

Fontaine stayed in the race and finished in the 14th position, earning him the Featherlight Most Improved Driver Award.

"Overall, it was a huge improvement over the last race. I am sure at Michigan we will do better.

The more experience we gain, the more results will keep improving.

If we had not had that last flat tire we would have probably finished in the top 5.

“I want to thank everybody on the team for all their hard work, a special thanks to BDH Construction, and FRAXA for their support getting here.” Fontaine said.

On being awarded the Most Improved Driver Award by NASCAR, Fontaine said, "It is great. I am glad we got it. Hopefully we can build on this momentum and carry it into Michigan."

The Michigan 200 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, MI is the next NCWTS race on the schedule for Fontaine and team.

The race will be televised on SPEED at 1:30 pm, Saturday, June 13.

TruckSeries.com's Loop Scoring Reports lists Fontaine's stats at Dover:

                · He tied Mike Skinner for 5th in number of laps led with 5.

                · His average running position was 15.285.

                · His overall driver rating was 21st.

                · He was 13th fastest early in a run, and 17th fastest late in a run.

                · He was ranked 15th of drivers with laps in the top 15 with 113 laps, 56.5%.

                · Fontaine made four passes on the frontstretch, four on the backstretch, one in turn one and two each in turns 2,3 and 4 for a total of 15.

thanks for all the info on chris. I think this is something that has been discussed on the board about letting us know whats going on with the driver's and how they are doing. I met chris when he and his crew rented that track for a day at CCMP, when i worked there, and he and his crew worked all day on the car between practicing and set-ups, then came out and won races. I was watching the truck race and was pulling for him and thought he did great. Does he have any of his crew from his super working with him now? and thanks for the update. I have to work most saturdays now, so checking the board for what drivers are doing and were they are racing is how i keep informed these days.
thanks and keep letting us know what is going on, there are alot of us that do appreciate it.

                    That's What I'm Talkin About !!!

linda is right. thats what i want to see on the board. posts about our drivers. we cant be everywhere but someone else is somewhere!.....
its always exciting when one of our regular drivers makes it to NASCAR...but its bittersweet because we dont get to see them here! as always we wish them every success!
chris is a great guy... he is soft spoken and has learned to be humble over the years. hahaha i will never forget the story about him driving up in the pits at desoto in a limo. some of the drivers were ticked off thinking he was rubbing their noses in it...but what the heck... if you can afford to have fun sometimes life is too short not to....chris has not asked for a free ride. he has worked hard to get where he is... he did well in the last truck race. he didnt take chances and finished respectably with the truck intact!... chris... if you are reading these posts, you keep on truckin and have fun. be safe and know we watch you and think of you. God bless and keep you safe!

The same crew that was at CCMP working on the car is the same crew that works on his truck team plus a few other guys that help at each race. I am sure some of you on here know late model drivers BJ Mcleod and Kevin Ingram. BJ is his spotter and Kevin is his crew chief.
