i know most of us dislike the politics of nascar, but they have gone over the edge with wacking carl for $200,000 for an engine that was 1/1000th of an inch out of spec,as well as 200 owner and driver points penalty.typical......

Please.... I for one have begun to dislike the politics that are ever so present in Modern Day Nascar... I could understand them teching the engine if he did well, but a blown up engine.... And the fine does seem a little excessive, considering that the "big" teams don't get all those monster fines when they have a "boo-boo" found...
It does seem that Nascar is taking away the little guy's chance to even try to run in the big show...
Speaking of the big show... Has anyone caught the owner of Jamie Macmurray's car this year... I just happened to see it, and was rather surprised...
Have a great day all...

As much as it sucks because it is a small underfunded team, he was definitely over the max. specification...
Nascar says you cant be over 358 ci, and the bore X stroke they give is 3.25 X 4.185. Using a bore X stroke calculator, that is 357.58 ci, the most you can stretch that to is 4.1874 on the bore and still be legal... To be .17 over 358, they were at 4.1885 on the bore... for a precision machine shop that knows the specs, that is no accident. Budget or not, if Carl Long is using a shop that is building "Cup" motors, they are no amateurs - that is inexcusable... It is only just over "a thou" out of spec, but to be over just a thousandth on every cylinder? Its good to see the rule enforced...
Now as far as the 200k punishment? Thats a different story...

Another step in Nascars evil plan to run the little guys out. I guess locking in the top 35 wasn't punishment enough for Carl Long and the rest of the little guys. The Nationwide series is next. They have almost run the little guys completely out of that series as well. Whats next, finish Arca off?
