After hearing from many drivers and several things not coming forth as was thought, we have decided to stick with the Track tires at Orlando for this race June 19th. We wanted to try something new and feel it out, but at this time we believe this is the best decisions for Fascar, Orlando Speedworld and the modifieds who have supported us all year so far. We apologize for any inconvienence this may have caused, We feel like we are giving ample notice with the race still one month away. Again Butch and Myself, believe this is the best move at this time. If you have any questions, you can call Butch or myself. The Hoosier Slick track tires will be the tires for the Joslin Memorial. We would ask you to please support the race because of who the race honors. Thanks
WE'VE MOVED!!!

man that sounds like rip roaring hooting tooting idea
the six or seven open wheel cars orlando has don't want to buy tires i don't blame them . and i ain/t gonna bring my two cars any slicks
buy slicks to run once i am starting to feel that ever body ought to support there own race track . stay at your home track don't travel look at the money you would save and your home track owner you know how he is gonna treat you
now if a big race comes up and they pay good and you can run your home track tires then go with a guarnteed pay most of time you are paying your self with car entry fee any way and guess what i treat people like they treat me and say what i think i'm at the age i don't give a rats asssssssssssssssss no body gives me nothing and i don't ask for nothing
race us clean we will race you clean wanna play lets play wannna race lets race

Sounds like someone ( or more than one ) leaned on you pretty hard to change your mind about an open tire rule for the Joslin race . Too bad , you were going in the right direction there .
Letting racers bring their own tires or forcing them to buy your tires . Seems like a pretty easy decision if you want increased car counts .
Its time to change the way tracks do business .

Flip FLOP!!!
FASCAR and a tire rule chage???? Don't anyone act surprised or like they didn't expect to see this coming! Heaven forbid anyone does anything to save a racer from having to buy tires or spend money. Like ronabneysr said STAY HOME and SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL TRACK.
You say support the race because of who it honors, But when all the money is added up how much of it makes it's way out of FASCARS hands to Dick Joslin's family? He passed in 1972 before I was even born. How much will FASCAR make off of tire sales? NO BODY SELLS ANY TIRES WITHOUT A PROFIT.
I live in North Florida it's no wonder I chose to race in Alabama and Georgia, consistent rules, tires and schedules. Get those three things right and the cars will show up.
Just so everyone know this is MY OPINION, if you don't like sorry. I don't like any one who calls themselves a sanctioning body and post rules and rule changes just before a season starts or has already started.

Seems like you are protecting the wishes of the "regulars" (I count the average at 12 per week), so don't be surprised if that's about all that show up. The idea of a "big" show is to get a bunch of cars that would not normally be there.
Auburndale, Citrus, CCMP and Bronson have ALL outdrawn OSW so far this year. Are the treaeded -vs- non-treaded tires a major difference? I don't know the answer, but by pure numbers, it seems that the non-treaded fields seem to be larger.
Once again, split rules are going to split the fields. Someone needs to bite the bullet, make the change permanent, and don't back down to the wishes of a few. Gumball tire compounds always favor the big-money motors.
Let me take a wild guess which teams are bitching about the non-tread issue! Probably not the cars from Auburndale, Citrus, or Bronson.
I may be wrong, but it appears like a move to sell tires, not to create a better race.
Either way, I'll probably be there to see if this is a good decision... or if the wishes of a few turned this into another ho-hum Modified race. They could be the largest and strongest division in the state, if only ONE rule book was passed around the entire region.

If I had a modified....
...and was a regular at the FASCAR tracks I would bite the bullet and buy a set of treaded tires. After the Joslin, you'd be able to race at ANY of the other tracks whether it be a "special" race one of them is having or if you just wanted to take a road trip in the next month or so. I really used to look forward to racing at a different track every once in awhile!sigpic
