  • Whats it gonna take to save our tracks????

I know this is beating a dead horse but there are some seriously struggling tracks out there. Please keep it short and to the point, here are a few of my ideas.

    1. I would rather have a track to race at then a large payout. Maybe a lower pit entrance instead.
    2. Bracket races, if a track is struggling then what would it hurt. Run what ya brung
    3. Tires, find the hardest, longest lasting tire around. Fascar Hoosiers suck!
    4. Thank the drivers and crew members every week. These are customers and at this point every customer is precious.
    5. Make track workers earn their money. Use volunteers for as much as possible.
    6. Cater to the hard working or out of work families. Involve the kids.

It is going to take both sides caring enough to listen to each other. You can't force anyone to do anything unless they are willing to listen and willing to try. And that is true in anything and everything in life.

Thats why you continue to beat it into their heads. Sooner or later someone will listen. Hopefully its not too late.

Heres a question , I heard that the meetings that Robert Hart had with all of the racers last year , gave all sides a chance to give their suggestions and complaints . And i would think that everyone left knowing exactly what rules and procedures were in place for the coming season . Now its pretty unusual for a track owner to sit down with the racers and work out where the track and the racing need to go . So where OSW and NSS are concerned , why aren't there enough race cars showing up ? Didn't the meetings accomplish anything ? Did the track not implement everything that was discussed ? Did the racers just list their gripes , assume the track was going to change things , and the track didn't . Did the track do what they said they would , but the racers didn't bother showing up anyway ?
From what i was told , the track and the racers both seemed happy with the outcome of those meetings . But i see where the car counts have been real low most of the season so far .

No, the meetings were ALMOST pointless. Other then a couple of things is was a big gigantic waste of time and gas!

Gee I love this subject, this is one reason I did NOT buy a track.
The racing in Florida is at the stage New York, New Jersey and pa was on the 1970's. From that mess we got TRI STATE a group of drivers and owners who tried to fix the problem and got hung in the media for it. Then DIRT Drivers Independent Race Teams was born and changed racing forever in the east. There is no way you can fix any track unless the owner is willing to take a step back and rethink the problem.
                  This is what I see
                  1. Dirt is alive and well, Ocala, VCS, North Florida etc.
                  2. Pavement in most states is on the drop.
                  3. Pavement fans who see a dirt race will 95% of the time go BACK to that dirt track
                  4. Dirt fans IF THEY BOTHER will normally NOT go to a pavement track.
                  5. Dirt car count is normally higher than pavement.
                  6. Cubic dollars can be BEAT on DIRT but not on Pavement
                  7. Dirt drivers do WELL on Pavement BUT a pure Pavement driver does not do well on dirt.
                  8. Pavement REQUIRES NEW TIRES but you can run OLDER tires on Dirt and still be in the hunt.
This is what I see and I for one have no fix-it suggestion. The interesting factor is the Ray Everingham bought a DIRT track to look at drivers, CAR CONTROL.

ALSO, Sponsor money is going, going, GONE.
We dropped (Leatherique) $375,000.00 in sponsor money this year. We are only Spending $175,000.00 and that is 100% on things related to the exotic and classic car market. I still out of my own pocket cove some raing sites and a couple of sprint cars and of course my modified.

(PS) Jerry you are good for 2010 and beyond for the reunion.
