About FACEBOOK....

I am trying to remove myself from Facebook... there is far too much information about families and little children that is open to millions of people all over the world. the government is also able to read all about us...i have read some very personal info on facebook and i think it is extremely dangerous.
i apologize to all my friends who have been added to my "friends" list... i love hearing from you but i am very concerned about the information that is available to just about anyone. there is even something on there about my mother's illness. she is in a rest home in california... my grandchildrens pics and info about them is there...a guy from california wrote to me asking me if i was the carol wicks from somewhere in California... never heard of this guy and yet he is writing to me...
please be careful and know that everything you write is being read by millions... your friends, their friends, and their friends friends!!! there are dangeous people out there!!!! also... i just dont have time to sit and read from and write to everyone!
just a thought...wish i could figure out how to remove myself from the darned thing...lol HELP!

i love facebook and myspace..ive never had any problems like that..they have to be your friend to message u..atleast it is for me...sorry u are having so many problems with facebook

im not having problems.. i just dont want to get them. your friends might be ok but then their friends join and theirs and millions more... so your friends might be ok and who knows what will follow. im not really scared... im just being careful. even if no one bothers you, the facebook people (whoever they are) will eventually have ALOT of your personal information and God knows where that goes.... i know the world has changed and nothing is personal anymore... i just have a hard time with it. i worry about the little ones.
people take pictures in their homes and talk about when they pick up their kids or go to work etc. in the picture might be their office with expensive equipment.. tv, etc... an invitation to a thief...
im not saying everyone should leave facebook... just saying to be careful.... thanks linda... how are ya anyways... long time, no see....

I gotta chime in on this one. Sorry, but people need to quit blaming these social networking sites for their own mistakes. NONE of these sites force anyone to put anything out there that they don't want to, and yet people do. Why? Because they act and then think when it should be the opposite way around.

I have had a MySpace for years, and I more recently started a Facebook. At one time I made the mistake of establishing some online connections with some people that I probably should not have, but the solution was as simple as deleting names and blocking access to some info. I used to be very open online but that has all changed, and I woiud suggest that each of us determine how private we wish to be BEFORE we create that account on Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, or whatever.

The biggest reason for all of the "fear" today is parents who turn their kids loose with computers, cell phones, or whatever other communication device, and fail to monitor what they are doing with it. Don't expect the world to protect your kids! Get up off of your butt and do it yourself! If you can't monitor their activities, then for petes sake get rid of the devices that are giving them access to the wrong ideas, info, or whatever! Its really that simple!!! Parents should parent! Right?

My advice is for all of us to please think things through before we do them, and if you think certain info might come back to haunt you, then don't put it out there!

im doing just fine carol...i agree with u..my daughter has a facebook and myspace page..but she know that i must have password signon name to both or she wont have them..and she doesnt know when ill check it...but my daughter has been educated on stuff that goes on and around cyber space...and so far she has been going by my rules..so i trusted her very much...well i hope you have a great week and weekend...take care all

Let me say the "government" knows far more about you then your think. And it doesn't get that info. from my-face. Nor does it need to. So there is no need to think that way.

yep...

i know that rick... but i still think it can lead to danger for children and adults who are trusting...like you.... a perv or criminal can keep notes... know what time you do things, when you pick up your kids, when you go on vacation, what you buy new... meds you use... people write to their family and friends about EVERYTHING... their friends invite friends, then it keeps on going and eventually your info is going to complete strangers. millions of them...
cant anyone see the dangers??
i would rather pick up the phone and call a friend... safer... it doesnt mean i am right. it just means this is what i think...
