I was going through some old racing magazines. I have Vol 1 Issue 1 from Dec 1992 of Florida Track Times. I don't remember how long it was around, but it was a very good magazine. I guess because of the internet, we'll never have another magazine about Florida short track racing. What made me sad was looking at the schedule for the USA late model series and the new Florida Pro series. Between those two series, there was a combined total of about 28 events. Those days are gone forever too I suppose.

Great racing mag. I have several issues and enjoy every one of them.
In a way, I blame the internet on the downslide of stock car racing. With the "net" you only get the info you search for. With a racing newspaper, it's is loaded with info from other tracks, other divisions, out-of-area news, etc... you can't help but to pick up some info and results from something else besides your local results.
If it wasn't for Stock Car Racing Magazine, National Speedsport News, Gater Racing News and others, how in the world would I have ever heard of Dick Trickle, Jr. Hanley, Steve Kinser, Brett Hearn, Kenny Bernstien, Nigel Mansell or literally millions of racers throughout the world.
Nobody knows anything about racing out of their area anymore, because there is no place to READ about it anymore. It's hard to pack the place with fans by telling them that Cassius Clark, Ben Rowe, Eddie Hoffman and Scott Hantz are coming to town.... because NOBODY knows who they are.
The internet has killed the racing newspapers, which in turn has created FAR less knowledgable race fans! The whole sport is worse off for it.

Yeah I remember having to wait to receive my bi-weekly copy of Late Model Digest to get racing results from the All-Pro, ASA, and local results from around the country. There was no going to the internet on late Saturday or Sunday to get results. Sometimes you didn't know for a week or so who won let's say that All-Pro race in Mobile or Birmingham. I guess I'm part of the problem because I don't get Late Model Digest anymore either because I got it to get results of races and now I can get those on the internet. Hey Frasson, there was another magazine that covered Florida short track racing around 1987 and 1988 and I can't remember the name of it. I think it was called something like "Florida Stock Car Racing" or something similar. The one issue I do remember was the cover had a great color shot from the pace car on the starting field of a USA race at Columbia I believe in April 1988. Of course back then it was called Gateway National Raceway Park. If you have that issue, I would love to see the cover scanned in a post. On a side note, 1988 was the same year remember GNRP had All-Pro doubleheaders on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend. Those were the days.
