Dustin Dunn heads to Watermelon Capital Speedway
April 29, 2009 - Devon Holder
Dustin Dunn heads to Watermelon Capital Speedway in third place in the ASA Late Model Series Southern Division standings. Dunn has scored top ten finishes in all three of his outings this year with his best effort, fourth, coming in the season opener at Charlotte County Speedway in Punta Gorda, Florida. Dunn’s race team is underfunded, yet that has not stopped the Jupiter, Florida native from having success on the racetrack.
One track that Dunn experienced success at in 2008 was Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, Georgia. Dunn is excited about returning to the track where he finished fifth in the ASA Late Model Series Southern Division race last season. “Watermelon Capital is my favorite track that we race on this year with the ASA Late Model Series,” stated Dunn, “It is a high speed 4/10 mile track with great banking and it does not have a backstretch wall.”
Dunn is aware that the momentum from his top five finish at Watermelon Capital Speedway in 2008, along with three consecutive top ten finishes in 2009 could make for a great Mother’s Day weekend in Georgia, “We have a great chance of competing for the win at Watermelon Capital on May 9th,” exclaims Dunn, “Our team has improved drastically since last season.”
Dunn knows that to compete for the ASA Late Model Series Southern Division Championship he must continue to score top five finishes. “Our team is setup for top five finishes,” admits Dunn, “However, we could really use sponsorship help. So contact us if you are interested in joining a great team with a good attitude that is ready to make steps to the top.”
Dustin Dunn not only has the skills to drive a racecar, he is also mechanically inclined, allowing him to work on his own racecars. “We don’t really have crewmembers,” says Dunn, “My team is made up of me, my Dad, and my Mom.” This is a challenge that Dunn has been able to successfully overcome to be competitive on the racetrack. That is a big accomplishment for the 18 year old youngster.
Dunn has confidence in both his race team and his ability behind the wheel. Yet to reach his full potential he will need some help from a sponsor, “I think that with a little help we could compete for wins and the championship in the near future.” If you or your company are interested in sponsoring Dustin Dunn and his race team, you can send an email to cmrsouth59@aol.com to learn more.
