  • Last Saturday in the street of.....

Barre, Vermont was the annual car show. They make that show, then, they all drive off to the race track, Thunder Road, for practice day.

What better way to get the fans stirred up and get the potential fans interested . If you think about it , almost every track in Florida could do the same . A car show in Bradenton leading to the cars driving out Highway 64 . A show in New Smyrna or even Daytona with the cars going down Highway 44,possibly even on the interstate , though that would require some planning and phone calls to the authoritys . Maybe even from Orlando down Highway 50 to OSW . You'd need a police escort on that one to avoid being stuck in traffic . But they could come from "Bithlo Beach " down Highway 50 . Thats a good promotional idea , i hope some tracks try it .

They tried that last year at Baghdad Intl. Speedway. The reviews were mixed.

And...Thunder Road, last I knew, was a *THURSDAY NIGHT* track. Four divisions of racing, heats, and features. Go to Speed51.com and look at the pictures from Opening Night at Thunder Road. It was a 150-lapper for the ACT Late Models, and according to the results, they had 30 cars in the feature - on a quarter-mile track.

And the total car count for each class was:

          42- LMS
          39 Tigers
          51 - SS & JYW

and around 4,000+ fans, as usual. Yes they are still Thursday night for weekly racing, and they pack the place at every one of them.

The track is in Barre, Vermont. Beautiful place. 1/4 mile very high bank. Nothing fancy there, but nice and what a show!!!!!

The crown jewel of the season is the Milk Bowl, at season end, 150 laps in 3 segments of 50 laps, inverted field at second and third segment.

I've seen up to 63 cars to qualify, take 26 to green.

The ACT series is run by the same promoter, Thomas M.Curley.

Yes, own by Ken Squier, promote by Thomas M.Curley. If you go on the ACT tour web site, just take a look at the driver roster.
