Why We Need To Preserve Our Racing History...

This past Friday night Rick Bristol brought me a box full of old photos, most of which were taken at Volusia County Speedway over a several year period... Rick had managed to rescue these photos while he was working there because the track management (at the time) was going to THROW THEM OUT!!! Many of these photos are a great look-back in time and, like the one I've included here with the members of the Powell family, are simply precious... And this photo along with about 2,000 others were going to be tossed in the trash... If you have or know of anyone that has these great memories from our racing past just gathering dust in a garage or closet... get them to someone that will preserve them... Or take the time to have them scanned so that future generations can re-live the great cars & stars of the past...

If I can find them Dave, and I will have to search, I have some from Orlando from around 1996 - 1997. The photographer at that time gave them to me when he left. It was Beverly's brother I think. But I will look for them for you.

I remember that car. Those were the days when late models were cool to watch, with those big spoilers and side boards. That's how I picked my name....From the Old Style Late Models!!!!



I wish they would come back.
