Listen LIVE to one of Florida's best-known racing announcers Tony Modica, on the Inside Florida Racing show's Karting Segment tonight, Monday, April 27!
Tony will come on the air around 8pm ET!
Tony Modica was the well-known host of Short Track USA, the fastest hour on the radio. Tony started with Short Track USA back in 1998 as a race reporter covering the south's famous short tracks. It wasn't long after that and in 2000 Tony became the shows regular co-host, bringing years of broadcasting experience and racing knowledge to the show. Then in January of 2001 Tony became the permanent host of Short Track USA. Along with hosting the weekly show, Tony was the announcer at one of the south's well-known 1/4 mile paved oval short tracks, Sunshine Speedway in St.Petersburg Florida. Tony was invited to the speedway back in 1999 as a guest of the former host of Short Track USA and then head announcer Bill Green.
Within two weeks, Tony found himself in a golden opportunity as the new assistant announcer of track owners Frank and Bonnie Hill. Tony continued in that position, gaining valuable experience thru the end of the 2002 racing season.
Along with announcing the cars on Saturday nights, Tony was the announcer for the Sunday Tri City Kart Club, in which he started announcing for back in 1999. Tony enjoys announcing for the up and coming stars of the karting world. Tony has since announced several WKA National karting events, in the Carolinas and Southeast.
Over the years, Tony has also appeared in Industrial films, Informmercials, National TV commercials, National print ad's, along with being a movie extra in many movies including: "Weird Science" with Kelly LeBrock, "Raw Deal" with Arnold Schwarzenegger, "First Steps" with Judd Hirsch, "Vital Signs" with Ed Asner, "Ferris Buellers's Day Off" with Matthew Broerick, "The Water Boy" with Adam Sadler and "Armageddon" with Bruce Willis.
Back in the mid 1990's Tony had his first driving experience in a stock car, racing in the Hobby Stock class at Citrus County Speedway, Inverness Florida. The 1/4 mile paved oval track taught him what it takes to drive and prepare cars for the weekly grind of auto racing. Every now and then Tony will get behind the wheel and do a little racing for fun. Tony is a resident of Hernando County Florida
