  • Nice to see Jerry and Roger at Volusia last night

Yes, Elvis made it and Elvis did sing "Love Me Tender" and had a few ladies swooning. But it was very nice seeing Jerry and Roger in the stands and watching 74 year old Dave Jarrett win his heat race in the DAARA Sprint cars. Dave did a fantastic job and wiped himself out for the feature race putting grandson Matt Jarrett behind the wheel. Matt had never driven on dirt and did a fantastic job winning the Sprint race. It was a fun filled night down "Memory Lane" and sorry if you missed it but we had fun. Even got to wear my tie dyed shirt and somewhat peddle pushers.

Volusia is off next weekend but will be back in action on May 9th with Modifieds, $1000 to win Sportsman race, $500 to win Mini Stock race, Street Stocks, 4 Cyl Challengers. Going to be fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope everyone had a good weekend and congrats to Tate Pierce for the big modified win. Also congrats to Alan McCafferty who drives a Street Stock at Volusia also. Hopefully Alan will be back on May 9th. We miss him.

Good to see you too Jane (and Dave, Joe, Billy, Chris Lawrence, Santa and everyone else).

Also real nice to see some of the Vintage racers who have supported the Modified Reunion, like Larry and Diane Larivee and JT Dunn. Sorry I missed Gene Vitiello.

I've always known about the high quality of the shows at VSP, but Roger had been a little skeptical... not any more! He was HIGHLY impressed with the size of the fields, the efficiency of the show, the overall good natured atmosphere, and most importantly, there were a whole bunch of cute women!

It was a very good night at the track, without a single runaway victory in any class. In fact, I don't believe ANY winner started on the pole for their race, with the exception of Mark Whitener in the LM class.

This track doesn't get much mention around Karnac land, but they are quietly putting on a consistantly first class show. Maybe the best in the state (even if it's not "The Greatest Show on Earth" and each week is another "Ground Shaking, Earth Moving" experience!) They seem to put their efforts into making drivers and fans happy, and an affordable night out for the whole family. I see more families at VSP than any other track, and that is the segment of the sport that too many tracks miss out on. You have to create young fans, to be able to pull those people in once they are old enough to drive, and make their own choices of where to spend their entertainment dollars. Right now, a lot of people are choosing to spend it at VSP.

They are more interested in butts filling seats than they are in trying to raid your wallet. Bringing in your own food and drinks is fine, which for many people, is the difference in going to the track, or not going.

For example, Roger and I figured out we spent less money at VSP on $10 tickets, $10 to park in the tailgate section, but brought our own food and drinks, than we did the night before at OSW with the $5 admission tickets there. After buying a few beers and a burger & fries, we spent more money for a far lesser show.

More tracks need to realize that you have to make it affordable to get in the gates (especially an entire family), and reasonable prices on the things they want or need at the track. Empty seats buy no Hot Dogs.

Is your track struggling? Are the pits empty? Do the numbers continue to go down every season (if not weekly)? Try LOWERING prices instead of raising them.

This track is FUN, and a lot of people know it already. If you've never been to VSP, you're missing out on probably the best weekly show in Florida!

It was FUN guys, hope you come back to visit again soon. Never thought I would like dirt but I really do. The car counts are always good, the fans are great and I have found that you should never judge anything until you really try it and hey, you may just love it.

          See ya soon - Jane

Other than being thrown out of the tower by Tonya, I think Jerry and H20 Roger had a pretty good time!!
It's really been neat this year getting to renew old aquaintances with guys like Marc Kinley, Jimmy Passino, Jim Groff, Karl Permann Tommy Roberts and Rob Underwood plus getting to know guys like Jimmy & Garrett Stewart, Steve Oldaker, Danny Lunn, Dalton Strehle, Travis & Charlie Staats, Benita Allman, Grady Christian, Jimmy Carter and so many others... Just like the gang at Speedworld on Friday, they are a great group of people.

By the way... Starting May 9th... I you can't make it to VSP on a Saturday night, you'll still be able to watch all the action live! Post FX Video and TV Showcaster plan to start webcasting each Saturday evening at 7:30... We have an entirely new system ready to go and it tested very well this past week... It is a PPV but costs just $5.00... Just think... somebody in Budapest can watch the races and listen to the golden voice of Joe Linebarier!!
