Track owners and promoters ( with the exception of NSS and Ocala ) don't seem to be paying much attention to the racers ideas . Of course , when a track owners' whole day is taken up with self promotion on internet forums , who has time to make meaningfull changes .

As far as the tire issue goes, I wrote on earlier posts, there are tires made by Hoosier and Goodyear that you can run 6, 8 even 10 or 12 nights and not loose a 1/10 of a second on lap times. Mike if you want the tire numbers I can get them for you, but it just seems like most of the tracks are not interested in a tire that last that long, I guess they want to make the money on selling tires. For the money guys I know a set of tires don't seem much to them, but the little guy like myself it would mean the difference of racing or letting the car hang on the jack-stands. Chris Mize is on here a lot of times, he will tell you how long we ran those tires up in Mansfield..

Hey Chassisdude , it would be great if you could post as much info on all of the tires you mentioned as possible . If all of the info and numbers are here for everyone to see , the tracks can't say there is no such thing . And if the few track owners who care see this info , they know exactly what to ask the tire companies for . So will the racers .

what whould really be nice
would be if the car could kinda support it self on tire bill and fuel bill if you won ever time you raced and came in first place at ever track you raced at time you payed for tires - fuel - slab - payed entry into track - and car entry fee you would still be in hole
don't even count fuel for toter - and un seen problems .. so racing is like a fix you get that bug and you are going to race . you are going to figure out how to out spend to out run that guy that finished ahead of you .
so if you could save some money on tires you could spend it some were else on car like a new set of five thousand dollar heads or one of the progressive super motors , may new quick change . some new coil overs or shocks and springs
if you are going race it's gonna cost ya and we are gonna figure out away to get it right i hope you all can find a tire that will last at least four nights including pratice and all motors stay together for full season turning 8 grand and cams and cranks don't break half into

AJ14 I will call my son or his car owner this week-end and get some numbers for you..I posted once before on the goodyears the car owner bought 6 tires the start of the season, they ran 16 races, won 6 of them and lost the championship by 20 points to finish second for the year. Oh yea and that was 22 to 28 cars every night. I hope Chris Mize reads this and he will tell you I'm not exagerating, I'm not pointing fingers at anyone, just wish we could get the car counts back up for the fans..........

Does anyone remember when you could run four different barnds of tires on all four corners of your car? Seen guys win with one Goodyear, one Firestone, one Hoosier, and one McCreary. Let 'em run whatever BRAND of tire they can bring - like someone said earlier, just have a durometer (hardness) rule. And, mandate the same brand of tires on all four corners. Make these guys work on a setup.

Yes goodyears are 10 inch grooved tire and where run in open motor rule late model class. Only rule on open motors was a 2 barrel carb. They are running aluminum head high compression dry sump motor in a lefthander chassis. Those tires didn't loose a tenth of a second from the third week on. First two weeks they were a couple tenths off until they got broke in some, then stayed the same the rest of the season. I'll call them tonight or tomorrow for the numbers.........
