im not bent out of shape jerry...

i do not disagree with you on alot of what you said. actually the only thing that made me feel bad was you calling Ricky a bum. he isnt. Ricky was given an opportunity and he decided to try it.... if anyone are bums, it is the people who give opportunities to people who arent ready for the challenge and keep the opportunities from others who have worked hard and excel in the sport.
i can only imagine how bad ricky feels when he doesnt have a good night. this is a guy who has graced headlines being a champion and now people are calling him names. i will be one very happy old lady when i see ricky in the winners circle. ;-) jerry i dont get mad at you. just because i dont agree with something doesnt mean im angry. i simply voiced an opinion and i do respect yours. just not name calling. i know you are very passionate about this sport. and you have encyclopedias more worth of racing knowledge than i... i cannot hold a candle to you... im just more sensitive. ;-)
    luv ya

      Jerry "The Hammer" Binner....

Nickname given for once again hitting it squarely on the head.

      Don't backpaddle though.
Even if "Bums" is too harsh for a few of the misinformed masses, most of us knew where you were going with the tag. And just when I think I've read it all, along comes another poster's reply that makes me sit back, say "WTF?" and shake my head.

      Anyways......

Ride buying, nepotism, bedroom deals(for Evernham...lol)......it's been going on for a long time but this farce that CRAPCAR calls the "Driver Development" just blots out any last bit of legitamacy a once respected series ever had. Just another of the reasons I don't watch, follow or care about it any more. Short tracks are and have ALWAYS been where the rubber meets the road in my book.

Also in my book, Indycar drivers, and especially the dancing ones, are for the most part, a bunch of glorified go cart racers. I say take em' back to the days of the handbuilt, Offenhauser powered Kurtis-Krafts and lets see how many of these nancy-boys could get the job done. I'm thinkin' a big, fat donut hole. I also say if you need your race car controlled by a computer then go BRACKET RACING! Imagine Choquette boltin' on the same rubber as one of those carbon fiber go carts runs and see if he ever has to lift again. Anywhere.

Integrated computers and Chassis/Tire/Computer Engineers...What the H has racing come to. Throw in traction control and they might as well be racing slot cars! Of course, with all these 12 year old Late Model pilots roaming the pits in their souped up golf carts, at least we'll have drivers who can operate the game controller needed to play...er, I mean race.

Thanks Jerry and keep getting yer panties bunched up.
I, for one, like to read your well-written posts that always make good points.

" if anyone are bums, it is the people who give opportunities to people who arent ready for the challenge and keep the opportunities from others who have worked hard and excel in the sport".

Very true statement. I'm sure if Childress, Gibbs or Roush wanted to give ME that opportunity, I wouldn't think twice about accepting. You're right about who really IS to blame. It's not the guys accepting the offers, it's the fools that are MAKING the offers! I wish there was some kind of rating system where Nascar could say "I don't care how much money you have, who you know, or what sponsor you can bring.... you just aren't accomplished enough yet. Call us after you won the World 100 or the Snowball Derby".

Winning a few Street Stock races in California (Gilliland) just isn't enough!

And by the way Carol, I resent YOU refering to the car owners as "bums"....

Hope I got a smile out of that!

all got dumped, and Erin Crocker would have if she wasn't sleeping with the boss.

no, Erin sucked on the short tracks the same way she sucked in the big leagues. i saw her at Eldora. and, if you've noticed, she sucked so bad she has gotten dumped even though she was sleeping with the boss. there's sucking and then there's sucking ... and you should never confuse the one with the other, Ray.

if she has a fast car and starts up front she might be able to string together enough 'qualifying' laps to finish well. otherwise she's a hazard to everyone else on the track. numerous times i've seen her wreck or nearly wreck leaders who were lapping her ( again ) because she couldn't be bothered to be aware of what was going on around her. spotters talking in her ears couldn't even straighten her out. she's not any better at driving traffic when she can actually maintain pace but at least then she can say "I was racing for position, it was just one of them deals".

Danica and Sarah Fisher are the only women i've ever seen at the top levels who might not be EEOC hires. and Danica pulled several stunts this year that are making me wonder about her.

Carmichael is a nice guy, and seems like a pretty cool guy to be around, but 4-wheel talent is not there. Will it ever be, who knows.

he needs a LOT more seat time ( should look into driving Sportsman or Super Stock to double up on race night ) and he needs to start at the back of the pack. circle track racing is about dealing with and handling traffic and making the car perform it's best on the non-optimal line. this is what separates us from all the hoity-toity road course racers. we aren't racing the track hoping for somebody else to make a mistake, we're racing each other.

he can turn qualifying laps but he has no idea what to do if there's a car in front of him. and given how fast his equipment is ( he can walk the field if he starts on the pole ), that's just sad.

i know he knows what a cross-over is, i've seen him do it plenty of times on the motocross track. he needs to translate that to asphalt.
